A bit of a closer shot of the new glass cladding going up, as seen from the GO train:

I've also noticed in those renders that the utility runs (or whatever you want to call them) appear much higher than in reality. In the renders, they've level with the top of the trains. In reality, they're so low they block the windows of the upper levels of the trains.

Judging by the aerial photos above, it looks like the skylight has been covered since at least 2011. Amazing to see how much work has been done on the roof of Union too; all brand new HVAC. And yeeeeeeeesh, what a sorry state the train shed roof was in.

At first I thought they put up some temporary construction lighting... As I walked up I realized it was just natural sunlight!

There are no tarps this morning at 9:30. Still full view into Bay Concourse from the leather shop bypass. But ya, not a whole lot of noticeable progress visible from that area.

Yeah, my joke was a little delayed but I was keeping in theme with the project.

...sorry :) I actually made myself a little sad, too. Yup, finally, and new glass work at the top of the stairwells leading up to the Great Hall.

It also looks like Cinnabon will be opening a pop-up shop by the leather shop bypass!

This made my morning: "Before it’s done, the construction hoardings may qualify for heritage protection."

Lighting on Platform 3 has been done for some time. But yes, it's probably the brightest platform at Union now.

The lack of work happening after regular business hours is seriously depressing and disheartening. I was in Union at 2AM on Sunday, and again at midnight last night... Couldn't hear any work and could only see a handful of workers (standing around in a group not really doing anything). That's...

The doors by Tims are already open (late last year) and lead to the York/Front moat.

Those doors (between Security and Danish Pastry House) have been closed off for as long as I can remember.

Man... This just made me realize. Union has been under construction (and the Bay Concourse has been closed) for so long, there's a whole generation of commuters that have no idea what it used to look like. Years of students have come to Toronto, never experiencing the old Union, and will (or...

What gets me is that they didn't think to add a panel for the Food Court to the wayfinding sign. Kind of a big feature of the York Concourse... and it's not advertised anywhere.

The Bay Concourse and York Concourse wayfinding signs (in the VIA Concourse) are lit up now, too. Looks like all the framing for the drop ceiling in the Bay Concourse is completed (at least the areas visible from the leather shop bypass). Looks like additional lighting is powered up now too, it...

Yaaaa... I'm pretty sure the toxicity of the cinnamon they use is the least of your worries if you're consuming large quantities of Cinnabon. The cardiac arrest will get ya before the liver failure does. (P.S. Cassia is the most prevalent cinnamon in North America. If you haven't gone out of...

Wayfinding signs in the VIA Concourse are lit up this morning. Make your move, Cinnabon!

When I walked back after lunch it was open again, except now they've put a tarp behind the gate so you can't see into that area of the Bay Concourse anymore.
