    Downtown Real Estate

I mean... 10 years ago - City Centre was more of a destination if you were in the area (not a regional draw like Kingsway up the road, but still) - Had a downtown grocery store right on Jasper Ave in proximity to both new builds and existing high-density residential, rather than Loblaw's on the...

    Edmonton | Falcon Towers | 170m | 44s | Langham Developments | Arc Studio

Ok but those would be far skinnier than basically anything built in this province at that height. They look about 1/3rd the floorplate of the Chateau Lacombe! And if the footprints are larger, that many towers would be hard to fit in.

    Downtown Real Estate

Who is coming into downtown on 107-106 St to see that, really? The similarly sized 'hole' on 105th St between Omega and the Provincial and Land Titles building is much more visible and probably what you're thinking about for coming up the hill. Especially when there's two smaller lots on the...

Edmonton City Centre Mall (Renovations) | ?m | 2s | LaSalle Investment Management

Edmonton likely wouldn't get another store for another decade as it inches towards 2 million. Unless IKEA changes how they do things. But there are a lot of other places that are probably better for them to go first. A 3rd store in Montreal, a 4th full-sized store in the GTA, a store in...

Edmonton City Centre Mall (Renovations) | ?m | 2s | LaSalle Investment Management

Honestly even just reconfiguring the west parkade such that 80% of the main level is event/entertainment space (like a Rec Room, megalounge, etc) would be great at improving the streetfront and probably make the CRUs fronting 103rd Ave in Stantec more lucrative.

    Edmonton | Falcon Towers | 170m | 44s | Langham Developments | Arc Studio

Those sure would be some skinny towers

    Edmonton | The Quarters Hotel and Residences | 280.1m | 80s | Alldritt Land | KENNEDY

I'm guessing if we get anything big it'll either be around the Ice District, the old BMO Tegler site, or something tall fronting the new Warehouse Park.

Takin' it to the Streets -- an Edmonton Imperative

There was a condo on the south side of Jasper/96th in the late 2000s next to the Russian Orthodox church that never happened. And next to that, the Aldritt Tower. Boyle Street was razed due to boomtime plans for new development in the '70s and early '80s that crashed and burned with the market...

Takin' it to the Streets -- an Edmonton Imperative

Is 104th Street dated? I dunno -- I get that it isn't the sharp, zippy lines we're used to from street improvements over the last decade-ish (like SPR, 96 St, Jasper) but I honestly still think 104th Street is one of the most pleasant streets to walk on in Edmonton, and the streetscape is a...

    The Parks | 146.91m | 45s | 35s | 13s | Pangman | Hariri Pontarini

Coming in on Jasper Ave from the west you can now see tower one blotting out the afterthought west wall of the Icons. The Parks is already doing God's work.

Edmonton City Centre Mall (Renovations) | ?m | 2s | LaSalle Investment Management

Do we want a car-forward downtown or not?

    Regional Planning & Growth

I think the problem is that Strathcona County shit the bed a little bit. Sherwood Park is basically built out and is hemmed in on all corners by either industrial development or exurban style sprawl estates. And Sherwood Park itself wasn’t built to densify. The majority of the rural part of...

    Edmonton | Winspear Centre Completion Project | 29.87m | 4s | Winspear Centre | Andrew Bromberg

Looks like about a quarter of a square foot of progress has been made. Yipee!!

Edmonton City Centre Mall (Renovations) | ?m | 2s | LaSalle Investment Management

I mean, do we really need those parkades? The mall could be retrofitted potentially, but the parkades gotta go.

    Edmonton | Falcon Towers | 170m | 44s | Langham Developments | Arc Studio

It's definitely quite noticeable in the skyline from the south/southeast now.

It appears as though you were mostly right, but the characters got jiggled up a bit along the way.

    Fantasy Transit Maps

Too long. That's 3x longer than driving. Bring it down to 20 mins at least. LRT or BRT. But with the limited lanes already on 124th... LRT.

It was part of Nuit Blanche and where Kinistinaw Park is now.

    Edmonton's National Standing

I can definitely see Manitoba and Saskatchewan getting a lot of migrants, and potentially Nova Scotia as well. Manitoba will be even more climate resilient than Alberta (better freshwater access) and Nova Scotia is close-ish to highly populated parts of the US.
