    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

It's an expensive thing. I remember when TYSSE was only partially constructed and years from opening that Vaughan was already pushing for an extension to Major Mack or some unbelievable distance. All the while "Viva Silver" was in their plans doing the same thing smh. Issue is now that...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I'd like to see a lot of the homes north of Danforth torn down (also any house with a gambrel roof for that matter, just cuz I really don't like them). And I know we had Queen, but did we get station cross sections for the other interchanges of Pape and Osgoode.

Wow I didn't realize it was to veer off Pape just north and south of Danforth to such an extent. Lot of homes it's going under. How would that work with the precedent of Verster's deep dive in Thornhill. And nice to see the line skirt around the archery range. Was kinda worried it was to bisect...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Very interesting indeed. Crosstown went from one project. To two phases. To three (airport connection). Heck we could throw in SMLRT (aka Eglinton east of Kennedy) and it'd be a four phase project. All drawn out indefinitely.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

This project has just taken waay way too long. And anyone who says the Prov is better or faster at building transit just needs to look at FWLRT. Funded it, promised to build it fast, canceled it behind the City's back, then seemingly used it as an election tool about how they've started it...but...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

It's straightforward (literally a straight line), and little different than St Clair which might be part of it. But I think the time it's taken has added to the tedium. Still interesting, but interest tends to wane when it's drawn out over, what has it been like 10yrs since it was supposed to start.

Can still break it up, by having six really long escalators side-by-side. Now at its root does this stem from King's Cross fire / Trench Effect? Surely any issues with a long escalator can be solved with modern fire suppression and ventilation. Needs to be an exemption.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Exactly. Flyunders from each direction, and it becomes an inline stop no different than any other from a service standpoint. Want to make it a tad more complicated with future skip stop services and trains mainlining past this wye junction, doable to. But in my mind it would be a currently...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

The amount of event space there is crazy. I'd like to know if an option was floated of burrowing the line and having the station aligned north/south more central to the Ex grounds. Makes a less optimal transfer for GO-subway riders sure, but vastly improves station access to people attending...

Wouldn't be too upset if Innovia w/ 3rd rail was decided on. Built here, small trains, small tunnels, more refined looking infrastructure (i.e without catenary poles making things messier).

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I still can't wrap my head around how in the span of a few months Metrolinx showed residents a 20m deep subway being "imperceptible" (their words), but then decided it's imperative to more than double that depth to keep things "peaceful and quiet" (their words, again). Pretty big flip flop. It's...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Dan's talking about the skylights. But the tracks are enveloped in a concrete tube for noise reduction. Beautiful bridge spoiled. If anyone's interested I saved some screenshots of the early SRT extension plans and they show various options. "Elevated covered" is def the worst. And I guess not...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Yes I don't think there's funding for any kind of commitment. But having it presented on a map with a tag line of 'we're pursuing private partners to help extend Sheppard and put more money in your pocket'. Or some empty party rhetoric to that effect. Average person just sees a map with...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

oh I don't doubt that they'll be presenting a Sheppard Subway this election

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Oh please you know Doug would want it tunneled as deep as possible, and you'd be promoting that decision if it happened. But alas the Prov used all its transit funding so this project isn't going anywhere for a very long time.
  16. 44 North

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Exactly. Savings abound. Crosstown W on the surface, Metrolinx did a report that SSE can be on the surface, YNSE no river tunnels and exorbitant stations. Put savings towardd Sheppard East which was promised transit 15yrs ago, or Don Mills which was promised 15yrs ago, or connecting to the...

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

And if was pursued it likely would've been easier to build, less money, and arguably better from a planning perspective seeing that the line would've kept on Jane instead of a block west. It's incredibly swampy and boggy, 407 station is sitting in the floodplain, it's not exactly conducive to...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Ford 1 was in favour of a "glorified streetcar" to SC. Just contiguous with a grade-separated Eglinton East Crosstown vs standalone grade-separated line from Kennedy. All the in median at-grade Eglinton LRT is almost complete, so... What he was more adamant about if you followed the news at the...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Mmm. Big fan of oblique aerial imagery. Though am confounded with those yellow jigged lines, is it supposed to be Viva or something. Then the creativity with Line 1's placement.

    London Rapid Transit (In-Design)

Ah yeah love hearing that story. Ad hoc but true transit-building. Probably hard to quantify, but having attractive bright trains must've helped to some degree. People see that either in person or in the media (say in a nice setting like crossing Rideau) and they'll want to leave their car at...
