Woops, I misspoke, too little time in a car these days I forget about those ramps. Never seems to be much traffic under there when I'm at TRUCK or Two House. The road seems dead under there I'd be fine with a pedestrian promenade ending at 14st, which I think absorbs most of the traffic anyway...

    Calgary | Glenmore Landing | 115m | 35s | RioCan | NORR

I've always thought 10 ave would be great, as it has low traffic and is kind of redundant for cars, already dead ends at both east and west ends of beltline. Place bollards mid block so vehicles have local access but no through traffic. Bike lane on the north side (triple wide) to limit...

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

Sorry didn't mean to talk so passionately about bike lanes in the subforum dedicated to bike lanes, my bad.

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

I don't find this to be true in practice at all. All you've done is doubled the length and duration of the trip below. It's one thing to compare the two cycle paths by length from where they intersect, it's another entirely to consider the types of destinations that require east-west movement...

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

Oh I lurked on that forum for decade(s) well enough to know the problem there wasn't the occasional harsh word to describe a bad opinion. I agree, but that doesn't run in contradiction to cycle infrastructure on 3rd avenue as well. Why in lieu of? Why is that the default condition? You should...

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

This is useful. I suggested that before the 3rd ave lane is taken down, another temporary lane should be built on 4th or 5th. As it stands, 3rd avenue is the best east-west connector north of the tracks, and frankly, the only route for modes that don't involve leisure. Eliminating such a...

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

Dramatic, maybe, but it sure isn't a good look to be presiding over a net loss of bike infrastructure during as mayor. Have you never seen a headline before? you seem disproportionately surprised. by "don't use it, you lose it" you mean that just because you personally haven't seen me with my...

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

Just sent an email to the mayor and other councillors about keeping the 3rd ave bike lane. Project Calgary has a petition too. https://www.projectcalgary.org/3rd_ave_wk7_update The idea of deleting a bike lane in 2023 seems crazy.

Its so annoying when people suffering homelessness and addiction negatively impact investments. Don't they know about the sanctity of capital? Those selfish humans should know their place. (/S just in case) Obviously it's tough for people living in the area who just want to be unbothered, but...

    Hopefully bike parking at least?

What's wrong with "commie" blocks? Just aesthetics? Red scare nonsense? You know what's more depressing than "commie" blocks? Homelessness.

    Alberta Provincial Politics

You don't think a leader's character and ideological position matters when determining who to give political power to? E: don't, not dong

Is it just me or did the green line station get moved in this map? It's supposed to be a block north, with the line coming in parallel to the main line across the elbow river and only tunneling southbound after stampede trail, right? So does this plan make substantial changes to the alignment...

    General Construction Updates

Respectfully, if you live in the area, why are you driving and not walking or biking? Isn't that partly the point of living in the inner city? E: mulled this one, I can see the advantage of a drive thru if you are using a car anyway and it's a "stop" on the way to/from home.

Drive? It's even worse on a bicycle or as a pedestrian. They couldn't even create a usable detour to get from Macdonald Avenue to the existing 12th ave cycle track. The one they've signed dead ends on Olympic Ave near Village ice cream.

This turned out really nicely. They really committed to the angle facade on the render.
