Fram and Slokker's North Shore Condo Nears Completion in Port Credit

It's a nice addition to the area. Hopefully, we'll see more development like this east along Lakeshore, currently marred with blight and parking lots.

New site of sales office? The unit beside the construction office in the townhouse component of X has a set of lights mounted on a track just above the picture window. Hmm.. I wonder if the sales office is moving there. Demolition for X2 allegedly starts this summer.

What an odd-ball building! The suite layouts are atrocious compared with those at Radio City. I suppose every garden is bound to have a few weeds. Sigh..

Church-Wellesley Residents Meet Regarding 596 Church Street Proposal

Key questions and comments from the community meeting of Thursday, June 17th 2010 • How does 25-storey building affect the “village” effort? • Shadow study-how does the project impact lights/shadow? • How do we ensure that community consultation will be respected and honoured...

596 Church Street (Church 18 Holdings, 25s, RAW) DEAD

Agreed. The northeast corner of Carlton and Church could also easily support a (an?) harmonious mid-highrise development.

This doesn't square with what I know of Kyle. In a conversation a few years ago, he said that Church-Wellesley is zoned highrise and his record consistently supports highrise development. He shares Chris Hume's contention that the most important aspect is how it engages the street. It's much...

    Toronto Toronto | Bloor Street Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Bloor-Yorkville BIA | architectsAlliance

When I asked for a circle and post bike stand to be installed outside the Tim Hortons at 175 Bloor Street East, I was told that holes were not allowed to be drilled into the granite, and that the plans for the street do not provide for any alternatives. Good planning, huh?

I notice one other change. Not only has the building grown by 7 stories but the parking garage is now 1 level deeper (was 5, now 6).

I didn't get a close look, but from a distance it sounded like "pile driving".

There's now an asphalt path (cheap sidewalk) along the south side. Looks like the tracks to Redpath will not be replaced. Too bad! I liked that industrial layer, reminiscent of St. Catherines with active heavy rail lines on city streets.

Sidewalk along Charles St. E. being reconstructed this week. Black granite wall in front of the townhouses coming along. Potted trees added to the roof (i.e. 3rd floor outdoor amenity area).

Wierd that the main hydro feed is underground (25 kv I think) but the streetlights are fed overhead.

New Bike Lanes on University, Bay, Spadina, and Other Roads

People who drive motor vehicles seem to think they are entitled to the roads, and regard pedestrians and cyclists as nuisances. A case in point: a driver lamented that bike lanes on Jarvis Street would "ruin the only good street in the downtown." Cyclists could take a different route, perhaps...

Photo Of The Day: The Future Home Of Market Square

It reminds me of the Cook's Church lot just to the north, bordered by Queen, Dalhousie, Mutual, and Shuter.

I find the current advertising campaign featuring a smoker a real turn-off. There are too many already along Church (aka Cancer) street. The last thing I would want is to have a bunch of smoking neighbours lured by this ad to buy a unit there!
