Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I'm not an expert, but I can imagine that it would be pretty quick to re-gague if you're using wooden ties—just whack one rail over a bit towards the centre and re-nail. Wouldn't it be a lot more involved with concrete ties?

I would have thought there were also other reasons to keep the doors closed, like the fact that the buildings are heated separately. You could get quite a breeze in some places.

Calgary has them. Bankers Hall. It's pretty tacky.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Transit Plans

They're arguably "smaller" in the sense that the Canada Line trains are comprised of two rather than four cars, but the cars themselves are much larger. I found them much more comfortable when I lived in Vancouver than the SRT, mainly due to the width. I'm happy to be corrected but from a...

Isn't that just a sculptural support for the bus platform shelter/roof?

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

The poles on Vancouver's shiny new trolley buses detach all the time. I wouldn't read too much into it.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Were people actually spending that time boarding, or was the driver idling at the stop? I walked West down Queen this afternoon, and then up Spadina, and it appeared to be a mess what with the King cars heading North on Spadina and then trying to turn right onto Queen, or vice versa. If you...

Is that where the church was? I always thought it was an interesting building.

There are plenty of projects where they keep the facade and rebuild the building behind to the same height. I saw projects near Oxford and Piccadilly circuses. Not really the same thing.

I realize that. But extend the "streetcar" to Port Credit sounds like interlining.

Depends what Toronto vehicles you're talking about. You'd still have the issues with track gauge.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Not exactly a loophole. Only worked because there were no barriers on the first station.

It's a district energy plant though. It has to be somewhat near the district it's heating. Apparently the Pearl St plant only operates on colder days, and underwent a major upgrade a few years ago to reduce pollution (they burn natural gas to produce steam). They also eliminated the condensation...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Why to Mimico? For maintenance? I thought they were recommending a new facility by the airport to avoid that.

Metrolinx: Construction beside Bayview Extn on GO tracks

From the subway it appears they're doing something to the track bed. The gravel is very clean looking in that area. It may have something to do with last year's storm. The track is right up against a bend in the river at that point (the first bend south of Danforth, as you can see on Google Maps).

High Speed Rail: London - Kitchener-Waterloo - Pearson Airport - Toronto

The catenary structures may be separate, but you'd think they'd be able to share substations etc.
