    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

I agree that the discussion is moot, but for different reasons. I think that we'll get the Olympics before the NFL. Given the dismal showing of the Bills series here in Toronto, I don't think there is as much of an appetite for live NFL football in Toronto as people seem to believe. In addition...

Awesome Jaybee... I for one would never get tired of that view-- even though it's not a "bird's eye", there is such a variety of building type and height that I think it will always be interesting!

March 10 2010 update. Making some good progress. The site was seriously busy during the short time I was there. From behind (looking west) Sales Centre. The brick looks really nice, as FirstTimeCondoBuyer said.

I'm not quite sure about all the rave reviews for the design of this tower. Apart from being slender, I do not find it all that striking. In addition, the lattice around the mech box looks tacked on and silly in the rendering. I suppose it all depends on the execution, but it reminds me of the...

    Toronto - Compressed

Nice work! I love the feeling of sheer human chaos in a lot of these shots-- Queen West from Beverly especially.

You're absolutely right about that. This would be the best solution-- though it would be an interesting challenge for an architect to design a building that goes from 60 000+ seats to 25 000. I'm sure it's been done successfully somewhere, anyone have any examples? My first thought was...

^ haha... nice. You're right though, I think if you took a survey, the majority of NFL stadiums would be in the 'burbs and surrounded by parking. Never really understood the tailgate thing... why can't they just surround the stadium with a nice park with BBQs and such? that would be so much cooler.

    TTC: Customer Service

Indeed. Recently I started following the TTC alerts on Twitter, and it is alarming how many delays are caused by "smoke at track level". Still, safety is #1 and the TTC has to be diligent when dealing with these things.

    TTC: Customer Service

I actually remember reading somewhere that the Philly transit system was looking at the TTC as an example in the last few years. CBC did a report on the possible lessons to learn from SEPTA recently on their evening news, the video is here...

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

The Argos former owners were always looking for a way out of the SkyDome, because being there they don't get any money from the lucrative box seats, etc. I doubt the new owner Braley is as interested in building a new home for his team, given the fact that the BC Lions still play in BC Place...

Verdale (Downtown Markham, Remington, 14 + 2x 10s, Quadrangle) COMPLETE

I'm kind of impressed... these buildings are handsome. The detailing is particularly interesting. Fascinating stuff going on up in Markham... creating a city centre in an empty field is not easy, it will be interesting to see if they can pull it off.

Thanks for that photo udo. There's no such thing as "way too much photoshopping" if it's done well. I like the photo, it shows how well this building fits into the neighbourhood despite its height. The masonry, the glass colour, other small details seem to be drawn from other buildings in the...

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

Apart from the track and field stadium being built on the Hamilton waterfront, there will be no new stadiums built for the Pan Am games. SkyDome (yeah, that's right) will host baseball and the opening and closing ceremonies. You can read about the proposed venues here...

    Sky park

I just don't see how this wouldn't become another visual blight on the skyline. Add to that the fact that it would obstruct views, block sunlight, create problems at ground level, and cost billions upon billions of dollars-- it's just not realistic.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Like I said, it's hard to compare the two city's systems, as they are so different. TransLink is currently drawing from their reserve fund to balance their budget but will soon be facing a deficit and will be forced to make service cuts. Both the TTC and TransLink face a disconnect between what...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

"Better" is a difficult thing to determine, especially when considering two very different cities with two very different subway systems. Maybe you weren't making a serious comment, but having lived in Vancouver myself, I can tell you that their transit system has a few problems of its own...

    TTC: Customer Service

Some interesting choices for the panel. I think they've got the appropriate mix of various expertise on there. I still don't think that Twitter was the right method of finding a citizen rep, but I guess we'll see how that works out. Now, we wait to see if this is just a smokescreen or if the...

Article: Ont Gov't building at 880 Bay, at Grosvenor St (ORC, 39s, WZMH)

It would be a funny choice, but really quite insulting considering the damage his government did to cities during his tenure.
