5%ers? A one bedroom in Canmore is more than a SFH in Calgary these days lol

Makes sense, kind of like how most of the actual train platforms in subways are a level or two (obviously depending on how many train lines) below the shopping/retail areas.

Honestly, if an elevated station was integrated well it would feel far more like a lot of great transit cities subways as they're (mostly) built for humans with retail, shopping, food, etc. I think it'd be hard to integrate well though.

I'm pretty sure that lot has been vacant for at least 30 years if not longer... might as well build something 🤣

    General Construction Updates

There's actually grading and some equipment on site for this one... didn't snap any pictures though. Not sure if they're just putting in deep utilities or actually building anything.

Well I think one piece is that we just had utility companies spend about 2 full years moving utilities from 11 ave to 12 ave for the previous green line alignment. Lol.

I have literally never heard anyone say this before. Every EPC has their A teams and their D or F teams, work with any company long enough and you'll have a bad experience eventually. I can't speak to the procurement side of things (or scope for that matter since nobody here knows) but when the...

In what way does Alberta sound progressive with its approach? They waited until the late stages of procurement to throw a fit and pull funding when they could just as easily have done it sooner if they really wanted this outcome with far less damage done to the city. It's not like AECOM is some...

In the presentation to council it was proposed as approximately a million dollars a day with zero certainty of anything. So it'd be burning another 50-100 million at a minimum.

It's harder than you think to transpose crayon to technical drawings. 🤣

So they're using one of the companies from the runner up bid?

Land acquisition will be lost in certain regards if the ROW changes (e.g. not building Eau Claire), and when I spoke to utility work I meant all of the underground utilities moved over the last three years to accommodate tunnels. Of course it's not 100% wasted, but we're talking about a lot of...

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

I would argue a lot of that is lost at this point if we don't build anything. Design is worthless if you don't proceed with the project scope, land acquisitions and utility relocations don't matter if you don't proceed or choose a different right of way, etc...

    Calgary | BTYYC | 24m | 6s | Eagle Crest | Davignon Martin

It's always pretty crazy to think that 2-3 houses used to sit on this land turning into 52 units. I need to take a walk down 24 one of these days, gotta be so different than back in my University days now.

I think they mean 30% design for the Highfield Depot specifically. You could have had the rest of the project at 60% or whenever the change to require Highfield came about, and they had to rush to design that facility. Though it's also possible it's been known for a long time as well, which...

    Calgary | Blackfoot Multi-Family | 14m | 4s | Cedarglen | NORR

Better than before, but what a weird car dependent enclave this will be. The closest development from Meadows Mile doesn't even have a sidewalk right now, wondering how that will factor into this proposal.

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

I see it as more of a challenge from an execution standpoint than anything. This is a megaproject that was going to be shovel ready in about a months time. You have huge companies that are going to have to either lay off resources or re-allocate them, and not start to pick up the other talent...

Agreed, but the government above seems to have different ideas for the future of our cities.

Seems like a lose-lose for the city at this point.

Have you ever tried to get on the train at City hall in rush hour? It's not the concept, it's the fact that the city has already said that (even with 4 car trains - that's a separate problem right now) the capacity can't support the ridership projections.
