Mid Humber Gap Trail Study (City of Toronto)

Is there any truth to it? Can a long covered bridge in a low-lying area really be a death trap in a flood?

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

From my understanding TBMs are surprisingly cheap so not a lot of effort is made to re-use them.

    Toronto Toronto | Westdale | 134.7m | 40s | Sorbara | Graziani + Corazza

I guess it wasn't worth the hassle to give new addresses to all the properties on Walsh Avenue.

    Toronto Surface Transit Network Plan

Jane, yes. Finch no. Finch is 4 km away (in the wrong direction for most people). That's like saying the east waterfront lrt doesn't need to be built because the area is already served by Line 2. heh Yeah, I've had this as an idea for a while now. The Downsview redevelopment is gonna be huge...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Thank you for posting that map again. I always get a good laugh at Willowdale being east of Bayview.

    TTC: Streetcar Network

I don't think it's that different than the streetcar network today, honestly. Just minus the lines made redundant by subways.

    Planned Sprawl in the GTA

What is the "certain brand of politics" you're referring to. Urbanism? Liberalism? Socialism? The left-wing in general? And what is this loss of credibility you're eluding to? And does this apply to other ideologies as well? When a right-wing president of the united states says horse de-wormer...
  8. Islington Express Bus

    Toronto Surface Transit Network Plan

That first map confirms my suspicions that the Wilson bus is the most hellishly overcrowded transit route in the city.
  9. Islington Express Bus

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I wonder if we could have saved ourselves a boatload of money by including this short tunnel as part of the original Eglinton project.
  10. Islington Express Bus

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

The "wider stop spacing" side of this debate is biased to that opinion because we are arguing in the context of our shared experience - living in the GTA. Here, we built sprawling, car-oriented suburbs where all jobs and culture are 25 km away in downtown Toronto. Of course you want long stop...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

I've lived in London and Toronto and I don't agree. London is a depressing city in general and just feels like it has never had a government that wanted to spend money on anything. They have a ton of streets with no sidewalks. Worst of all in my opinion is the single lane rail underpass. That...

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

I wonder if this will result in rationalization of duplicate services. For example, the TTC's Bloor bus is almost completely a duplication MiWay's Bloor bus. Same with Burnhamthorpe.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

The subway and bus/streetcar systems are so intertwined in terms of infrastructure and fares, that separating them seems like a bad idea and turf wars and "passing the buck" seems inevitable.

    Mississauga Toronto | Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Agreed: Add Port Credit and keep Oakville. Remove Aldershot and add Burlington and West Harbour.
  15. Islington Express Bus

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

At Etobicoke North, the roadway is depressed from the sidewalk, making a bus stop there impossible. Meanwhile at Islington, you could put a stop on the bridge and have walkways down to the platform level. You could even relocate that service road. Also I don't think you need a parking garage...
  16. Islington Express Bus

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

The freight siding gets regular use. Freight trains are there all the time in the afternoons. The current Etobicoke North station has godawful bus access. If you are transferring from a northbound bus to a 6-car train in the station, you have to walk over 500m! That includes crossing the street...
