They probably don't want to have to cover the track. Since there is no horse racing there anymore, what do they do with the track outside of Stampede? They have done the winter rallycross thing there in the winter to some success, that still works on dirt.

If they tear McMahon down to the bones and do a full renovation, it could still function just fine. The Chuckwagons likely do need to go, but they are one of the most popular events at the Stampede and are even televised. Zero chance they let that one go.

One problem with the grandstand idea is it would eliminate most of the infield, that is useful space during Stampede.

I've watched the games in 4K, definitely much better quality than the HD channels. Even on my cheap Chinese 4K TV.
