I'm not gonna lie, I did not think at any point in the last 2 years that this thing is going to get anywhere near done.

Supercool pics. It's incredible how a new, dense(ish) community was just willed into existence here. From the pics, lots more space for buildings. I have to say so far most of the tall stuff at VCC has turned out surprisingly well!

Ah the old "I'll misread this here post so I can make fun of someone because that makes me feel like a big man" approach. Good for you, Sir. Did you miss that part about consulting about moving the course (not the bridge, obviously)? No, of course not. Carry on. Hope you have a good day

My beloved Seton park disc golf course has been pretty much demolished for the other bridge in the area, further north by the Science Centre. I'm all for progress, but I really wished they would have consulted with the disc golf community and moved the course somewhere else.

Yup, pretty much everything is designed to slow cars down. Some of it is fine and necessary, but the overreach is real

Drove across Eglinton from Black Creek to Chaplin and looks like 99% of the roadwork is done. It was quite refreshing to see Google recommend I take the most direct route home! I only wish they would sync some of the lights that are really close to each other.

Agreed. Decent quality materials at street levels, and will be a nice addition when finished. Definitely a "looks better in person" type of project.

Holdout property sold for $2.65m, over a million more than asking. The listing pushed a) parkland possibility and b) possibility of 4-storey apartment building. Curious who bought it and what it will be used for.

What else is in the concrete structure besides the elevators? Or is it just elevators? Seems like a lot of floorspace at this level.

Has anyone noticed all the plastic bottles in that dude's car? Wow, that's weird, eh

Bruce Power: New Nuclear Generation Capacity

Good news. Nuclear is the best option for clean energy for us without steady sunlight or wind. Like others have said, electricity use will skyrocket with the shift to decarbonized transportation and manufacturing. We need all the low CO2 juice we can get.

This project is moving very fast. I drive by it every day, and it is always a hive of activity. Here's to hoping to some interesting retail!

Apologies if I missed posts on this, but what is the current status of the Pearson connection from the terminal station? IIRC, express buses were proposed.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I'm in favour of properly enforcing the 50 km/h limit instead of dropping it to 40 km/h. I live on a 30 km/h, but otherwise unrestricted street in East York, and people drive like fucking maniacs here. The speed limit does nothing to make the street safer. More photo radar would probably help...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

The pushback against this will be massive. Roads have a natural driving speed and it is next to impossible to drive slower than that. I'm sure if this comes to pass, it will be a feat for photo radars everywhere. To make this work, every major artery would have to be completely redesigned, and...

Drove through Eglinton and Leslie yesterday, and it appears that Eglinton will be permanently one lane over the Sunnybrook ravine on the westbound portion. At least I don't see how they are squeezing in another lane without expanding the bridge and keeping the sidewalk. Is that actually the case?

God, I hope retail here will be decent. and not the standard Starbucks/bank/Firkin/drycleaner setup. Does anyone have any insight/news on the commercial units?

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

Some US states are increasing various fees on EVs to account for the lack of gas tax from them. Not a fan of those, as it will hinder EV adoption. If only we had a source of revenue that all cars have to pay, like some sort of, I don't know, license plate fee....

Wow, I had no idea Toronto had its own 13th century Romanesque church! What is that building? Edit: referencing amh's shot from a couple of posts ago.

How creative. I hope they didn't pay some consulting firm thousands for that amazing name.
