From an urbanist perspective, the Gardiner being rebuilt is a terrible decision. If it gets uploaded, wave goodbye to streetscape improvements and any potential of tolling in the medium term. From a wily political perspective, I can see why the province uploading the DVP and Gardiner could be...

I think I'd prefer someone with (high quality) leadership experience in transit rather than a former politician... but we will have to see.

Will be interesting to learn if it's "you're fired", "you chose to resign" or "your contract is up and we decided to replace you" Surely your career would be over if you get booted from both the MBTA and TTC...

I suspect those will be fire doors (whether ones you need to open, or automatically closing ones) between Line 2 and Line 5 - given the different standards of construction at the time.

I think this is my favourite of the 5 - I can see the seating being very popular, almost hearkening back to the WaveDecks! As much as I like the Nda-Nwendaaganag (EXP), I can see the spectre of value engineering and poor quality parks maintenance coming over the horizon and I don't like that!

As much as I love the design - it does slightly clash with the "family" of other Portlands bridges, and I'd prefer something a little less flash and tall. It also gives me Gateshead Millennium Bridge vibes!

We will have to disagree on land acknowledgements I'm afraid - it's an important piece of recognising and acknowledging the indigenous peoples of a land.

Agreed - the testing and commissioning of a brand new line takes a while, and as Ottawa has showed - you don't want to rush / half arse it.

An example from London from Crossrail - the communication was "2022", then "first half of 2022", and then the opening date was announced. Give people the confidence that it won't open in 2025/26!

Also, this isn't a 6 month slippage here, a 4 month slippage there - King and Spadina seem to have a 2 year delay! (Q4 2024 to Q3/4 2026). Back in 2015, I do remember Byford warning that trying to construct a large number of station accessibility projects close to the 2025 deadline could cause...

It's a very fair point, sadly "don't worry, we're only increasing your taxes to be in line with our neighbouring municipalities!" won't go down well with the electorate.
