What's that tower behind the buildings?

It's very prominent from Yonge and Front as well. Will try to get some photos next week from there.

You get the best views of Daniels Towers when they are completely hidden behind another building.

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

We are talking about highways. Pedestrians should not be walking on the highways.

Problem is not the highway safety but driving behaviour.

Will the longer platforms have the roof extended over them or will they be exposed to the elements?

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

That's why I said they can break even easily. The toll doesn't have to be expensive for highways to break even. I am not talking underground or elevated highways.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

I am curious to know how depth of tunnel makes it more expensive. In case of a bridge, deeper the waters, taller the columns. But a tunnel;s cross section is the same irrespective of depth. Also the tunnel will be 10-20 meters below the lake bed, so the soil/earth above it will take the pressure...

That's what people thought about almost every new technology. Machines replacing human labour, etc. Hundreds of years later since industrial revolution, we still are at record low unemployment and earning way more after accounting for inflation. People don't stop working. They just do different...

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

You can also see it the other way. Highway = much cheaper to build, gives door to door access, breaks even very easily Train = much more costly to build, needs a lot more people to break even Both highways and trains are right in their own places and both can't replace the other. PS - urban...

Double berthing goes against through running, in case Metrolinx wants to convert most of the lines as through running lines.

These days $200 doorbells can tell not just between a person and an animal but they can even tell who that person is if you give sufficient access to the software. And of course, they can tell if that person is within the zone you specified or outside of it, answering your straying concern. Cars...

Bridge across Lake Ontario would also be twice as long and need to be a lot wider. Talking about MTO's tunnel plan, it doesn't save any distance, it goes along the lake shore. Why didn't they plan it diagonally so save some distance?

    Vaughan Toronto | 7800 Jane | 192.93m | 60s | Aspen Ridge | BDP Quadrangle

You are comparing a city vs a country. Cities have higher density and stop lights vs exurbs and countryside.

You can also include Nordic countries and Switzerland.

I doubt the land under the roadway would still be in a good condition for farming. What if mid-pen becomes congested again and MTO realizes narrowing QEW was a waste. Would you prefer them acquiring the farmland back again to widen QEW? Infrastructure has become much more expensive to build...

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

If they go for zone based fare as some people suggested, it will be a major rework.

There should be a plaque commemorating the hole and celebrating its legacy.

People are becoming more superficial with time and showing off their "perfect life" on Instagram has become an obsession. Many people undertake new experiences not for their enjoyment but for sharing the photos.

This is not limited to Toronto, it happens everywhere. When Tim Hortons opened in China, there were queues for it.
