Victoria Park Albion entrance gates are done and functional as of a few days ago. Much nicer feel in there compared to the floor-to-ceiling old gates.

Work has started on the secondary gates at Victoria Park. So far the old turnstiles have been removed with temporary fencing up to block access in and out.

Why don't they start by enforcing the HOV rules that are already signed along King St.? Streetcars and taxis only during rush hour. Even some of the street HOV diamonds are still there.

Typical UT snarky answer to a simple question about how the new gates function in the event of a power failure. The community here is always so welcoming. The question remains: What happens in the event of a power failure? Do the new Presto gates unlock when unpowered?

One not so great thing about the new fare gates is that at unattended entrances/exits, you can be trapped inside the station. Both gates at Dufferin Station Russett Ave. automatic entrance were showing red X and wouldn't open even to exit the station. So out through the emergency exit I went. At...

The red button on the inside that opens the door works as a next stop request as well. Actually, the one outside also works...I saw someone press it away from a stop downtown thinking maybe the door would open and they could get on, but it activated the next stop instead.

Dufferin will face similar problems to King. It's a transfer station and a bus or two regularly dump large numbers of passengers into the station who will all need to Presto through the gates. The past practice of using the crash gate will be gone as waving a transfer or a Metropass in the air...

Obviously not. I would like them to either stop saying that all buses, streetcars and wheel-trans vehicles have Presto, or to allocate the resources to get those readers on the 100 vehicles that don't have them.

That very thing happened on the Sumach/Cherry St. streetcar RoW until they started running cars. The car dealership at King and Sumach was a particularly frequent offender.

At this point in the roll out, those buses (whether new or newly rebuilt) should get readers installed and functional before they go back into service. Would they put a bus into service without a fare box? Of course not. When they TTC proclaims daily on Twitter that the whole fleet has Presto...

There may be a reluctance to do city themed Prestocards since they work across multiple transit systems. Having a Toronto or Ottawa card might give purchasers the impression that it only works on the TTC or OCTranspo.
