    Evocative Images of Lost Toronto

    More Lost Toronto in colour

Charioteer also posted a photo of that house on the Evocative Images thread a couple of weeks ago. Then - the corner of Wilton and Mutual - you can see the Mutual Street sign on the side of the house

Lost Road and Bridge: Lawrence Avenue

I think that is just a standard MPAC property description, as in not on a lake, or a river (stream? pond?) as opposed to - 313 Single family detached on water – year round residence http://www.mpac.ca/property_owners/how/propertyCodeInventory.asp#300

The current buildings at 885 and 887 and 889 Yonge ARE the past buildings that appear in orange on the map numbered 1-2-3. Heritage listed - "Part of a row of shops at 885-889 Yonge Street -adopted by City Council on June 20, 1973"

The current location looks like it used to be a bank. I think the old location is 94 Lakeshore Road East (now a 241 Pizza), next door to 100 Lakeshore East seen here: Wait a sec, this isn't Mississauga then and now.

Are these the buildings you are referring to? A bit east of 79 Wellington West & now the site of Royal Bank Plaza North Tower (1976) taken from the TD Centre (1968) - the Boiler Room was #61 but the buildings match up with the Charioteer's 1910 map. They also can be seen in this photo...

The Streets of Toronto: As They Are

Goldie, I think there were actually two Morrish General Stores. The older of the two is shown in the mural, and is now the home of the Scarborough Historical Society, further east along Kingston Road http://scarboroughhistorical.ca/?page_id=1223

It was the 'New Empress Grill' in the Edison Hotel (formerly the Empress Hotel). And the building on the north side of the street (presumably Gould) in your photo looks lot like the Bank of Commerce Building that was there.

Don't think so. Cooke's Presbyterian (where my great grandparents were married) was on the northwest corner of Queen & Mutual. This is looking southwest (from Church and Dundas) towards FCP under construction, the CN Tower, and Mackenzie house on Bond St.

Do the 1980s count as historical?:) Looks like it was a wholesale fruit and vegetable warehouse.

    Leaside and its Aerodrome

It still says it was on the Ontario Science Centre side of the valley - I was waiting for all the UTers to correct him in the comments;)
