Completely useless Little patches of Kentucky bluegrass, ruined further by a dumb sign. There's a kind of cultural commentary to be found here.

Trying to get a sense of scale.... I think this is right The streetscape surrounding this is more important than the overall look. Glad to see lots of activation to the street, Great pedestrian spaces and street furniture. Very happy to see they haven't forgotten about the 12ave bike lane...

    Calgary | Flyover Block | 20m | 6s | RNDSQR | FAAS Architecture

In the same tone, why do we give a shit about some loser in a car on an ugly flyover? What material impact does catering to the momentary aesthetics of a car commuter have? It does have a material impact on actual humans who are looking for affordable housing. Some douche in a lifted suburban...

Updated views from the hill. It's quite blue on this side. Nice colour pop. Curious to see how it looks once balconies, flashing, trim details are done.

    Calgary | Riverpark | 18m | 6s | M2SC | Casola Koppe

Ampersand revamp is still pretty trash, not sure all the accolades here. I mean, better than nothing working with what they had, but it's still tremendously meh.

That stone is so discordant with the rest. They'd be better off with a random colored rectangle instead of a random stone rectangle, or just more of the light grey material from the bands.

    Calgary | The Vibe | 22m | 6s | CivicWorks | Claroscuro

Yeah, great infill, terrible name. Except I caught myself saying "that's the kind of vibe we need at more LRT stations" 😓

    Calgary | Lincoln | 120m | 37s | Truman | NORR

I think the architecture is misleading. It is very good at conjuring imagery of 1980s office towers but the actual street presence doesn't seem to have that same hostility. While it's nice to have CRUs I don't think it's necessary. The little plantered arcades are nice. The diagonal planter...

    Calgary | The Grid | 50m | 16s | NORR

I couldn't care less what format this building is. I'll take something that gets built tomorrow over longterm speculation any day. We need to fill these inner city spaces yesterday. Maybe this can then spur the Blackfoot truck stop redevelopment.

They seem to have learned some things over each iteration, this seems better than their last ones.

Great to see some of those units getting filled up. Forever rooting for the slow creep of activity Eastward across the beltline.

Yeah I'm actually liking the black too.

    Calgary | Mission Landing | 26m | 6s | Opus Corporation | Casola Koppe

Eventually, McLeod needs a driving lane deleted from either side to be replaced with street parking or public realm extensions, at least north of Chinook. I doubt there would be strong public support at this point in time, though.

    Calgary | Ogden Hub: 29 | 21m | 5s | Mustard Seed | Casola Koppe

Just biked by this spot the other day. Looks good. We need facilities like this in every community. IMO should be the gov doing this en masse and not left to separate orgs like the mustard seed, but I'll take what we can get.

    Calgary | Meredith at Edmonton Trail | 14.63m | 4s | Gravity Architecture

This is kind of awful overall... Like, what is it all for?

    Calgary | The Isaac on 9th | 22m | 6s | M2SC

    >South Block is owned by Opus No, It's managed by opus. The capital comes from elsewhere, and returns elsewhere. But do go on. Not trying to doxx myself.

    Calgary | The Isaac on 9th | 22m | 6s | M2SC

Maybe kind of gossipy, but the South Bank/Block apartments were funded by a private party with a vested interest in Inglewood. I believe they retain ownership. AVLI is basically funded by a big corp, REIT money kind of thing, pretty sure it's just a line on a spreadsheet for the capital behind...

    Calgary | Blues by Battistella | 17m | 4s | Battistella | LOLA

Likewise, I find this to be distasteful. It highlights the hole where the old structure currently is, which is both smart and depressing.
