There is also a tunnel a mere 100 metres or so north of the level crossing, making the crossing if not redundant then only a small added convenience for a moderately small number of people.

There is incidentally a signalized pedestrian crossing, with lights and barrier arms, over the Metrolinx Stouffville Line, connecting a public school and a high school at Corvette Avenue east of Kennedy Road.

Update: Work appears to have resumed at the would-be bridge site. There was a contractor crew with a large number of trucks at the site of the rail crossing this morning. One of the gentlemen stated that they were preparing to drive piles for the bridge abutments.
