That is super disappointing. 9th street is becoming one step above banks and mortgage brokers- fitness and daycare centres.

A little Brio in the bottom as well. I'm still shocked that actually saw the light of day after being an eternal sales centre.

    Calgary | The Bridge | 52.42m | 16s | Jemm Properties | Zeidler

There were funds set aside by the city for a splash park when the pool was removed. There were rumblings of plans to start construction for years, and then the project died. No clue if the money got reallocated or what.

Looks like the DP is approved. I wonder when they plan to go ahead: Address: 634 MCDOUGALL RD NE File Number: DP2020-4528 Status: Approved Description: New: Dwelling Unit, Brewery, Winery and Distillery, Restaurant: Licensed - Small Applicant: FORMED ALLIANCE ARCHITECTURE STUDIO...

The first one does (although I think putting it in the north building would have made more sense to strive for connectivity with First Ave.). The context at the time was a 1st Ave that had a lot of turnover and was looking tenuous to support the existing retail spaces. Bridgeland isn't far...

I'll take "Things that will absolutely never happen" for $500, Alex.

I agree, and I personally think stepping down density as it approaches areas of single family housing is best. It's currently zoned for 6 stories. IMO, put the 6 story stuff beside some 4 story stuff, beside some 3 story row housing or side by sides, then single family housing. Then you get...

Shhhh! -Someone who lives adjacent to the upzoned area along the north side of 1st ave (in seriousness, it would be great for the community and the city, I just hope it doesn’t suck too much for me personally. Our plan is to ride out this house until death)

I'm excited to see the upside down version. I wonder how different the lighting and views are depending if you're on one of the "thick" floors vs. a "thin" floor?

    Calgary | The Bridge | 52.42m | 16s | Jemm Properties | Zeidler

I walked by today, and was sort of amazed at the fact that a pathway and curb cut were put in ~17 years ago will soon have a path between The Bridge and Steps to connect to after a very long wait. The Bridges certainly didn't go as initially planned, and it was amazing to see boom after boom...

I thought there was also controversy that the Peace Bridge magically popped up right by that site.

I'm just glad they didn't go vibrant red mixed with brown brick like Radius. The black brick looks sharp. If Dominion was truly slated to be a Radius twin, a giant bullet was dodged for Bridgeland, and then reparations were paid 😂

Those photos are really disappointing. Nothing like the renderings at all! 😂

    Calgary | Stephen Avenue Place Revitalization | 155m | 40s | Slate

I completely agree. When I was working downtown I was year round daily bike commuter and a big proponent of bike lanes, but Stephen Ave was a terrible idea. Stampede/Canada Day crowds and bikes do not mix. It's not much better on a typical summer lunch hour. 9th Ave has more lanes than anything...

The sales centre has been going for an eternity. I did not expect this thing to actually see the light of day. Riverside could use some love, and this is at least above average I guess. Very curious what the flood mitigation is like for that parkade.

We were watching the excavation for a bit, and I was curious how far away the trucks are going to dump their load, and how exactly do the tandem dump trucks dump their load? if the drive is 20 minutes each way, 5 minutes stopped on either end, that's 10 trucks going to keep the excavator working??

I assume good enough. Phil’s and Village opened officially on Friday. Una looks to be a ways away yet, but getting closer.

    Calgary | Eau Claire Market Redevelopment | 135.02m | 35s | Harvard Developments

This is just the next phase in the evolution of the Eau Claire Market. Next up: a giant pit surrounded by surface parking.

I think that was likely a soft opening. February 26 is still listed as the official opening.
