Praying that there is some sort of glass deficiency which would require the removal of all window panes and spandrel. This one is turning out an abomination.

the effect of the fins (on materiality, verticality and regularity) is reminiscent of 20th century international style towers

Thanks for this analysis. It helps understand the differences in cost/revenue between a place like London and Toronto. I'm happy to see a trend towards higher standards (when it comes to architecture and design) and more refined tastes generally in Toronto. Of course there is still a lot of...

i keep thinking the photos being posted are dated because of the lack of balconies on phase 1 ... then i remember the unfortunate (and costly) chain of events that led to this building looking naked again

From far enough away, it looks fine. The worst is the spandrel back lane treatment. I wouldn't go as far as calling it Time and Space. At least it's not the same mullion buffet and it is still miles better than the crime-against-humanity that is Peter + Adelaide.

Nothing more screams government oversight like having this be built directly facing City Hall. Hopefully, moving forward, this becomes a cautionary tale for future recladdings and will to some degree involve review from urban design (or any other department that can comment on architectural impact)

This building drives the OCD in me nuts.

I love that they focused on materiality on the lower levels and kept it relatively simple for the towers. It provides the tower residents with their sought after city views since the towers are glass and creates some contrast with the base. I love how the terra cotta, brick, pavers and steel...

i love that you had this handy. What a time it was when everyone on here saw these marketing materials. Probably sometime in 2014-2015?

Vast improvement, though i wish the treatment was some some sort of red that plays homage to the brick in the area. The white looks too much like what we've seen at Jarvis and Dundas

They should refuse it for a third and fourth time, to be safe.

What a truly hideous mess. I would blame the awful finishings on the fact it's close to dundas and jarvis (the most depressing intersection, where architecture goes to die) but then again, we have the Taylor and Peter and Adelaide going up in a whole other side of town.

It definitely has to be. There was an article not too long ago advertising the amenities, which seemed like an interestingly timed PR exercise. IIRC, it was right around when the back lane spandrel was going up and everyone in the forum started to get concerned with the impending cheapening.

i hope this building takes it sweet time / never goes up. It's not memorable enough to block the new TD tower which is looking to be stellar

    Toronto Toronto | Peter and Adelaide | 152.39m | 47s | Graywood | BBB

The Taylor looks accidentally bad as if its architects and designers didn't know how to execute details. Peter and Adelaide looks so intentionally awful, as if the developers' ROI depended exclusively on how bad the building looked. Why the hell would anyone misalign precast panels?
