Surely the bigger shame to consider here is that a Firkin chain pub beat C'est What, a national treasure, by one vote.

And don't underestimate the "unpretentious" factor. They now offer a "Perfectly Uncomplicated Latte" (it's bad).

The coffee sucks too, but it's cheap and "patriotic" or whatever.

I hope this is better than the "extended" hours during Pan Am, when they basically left the doors unlocked an extra hour, but most of the vendors still shuttered at 5/6pm anyway.

The new owners of the Wilco-themed sandwich store, Sky Blue Sky, haven't even heard of Wilco. https://nowtoronto.com/food-and-drink/food/sky-blue-sky-closed-toronto/

    Distillery District

Ah, the triannual digging up of Mill Street is in full swing. They've added tactile paving at the corner of Mill & Parliament this time, which I'm sure is destined to be dug up, patched, and replaced about 8 more times over the next 24 months for some reason. Good luck to this new decorative...

Oh, for sure, if you're a buyer looking purely at square footage, then there's no contest. Totally agree, but my impression of older buildings in this area is that the fees are 2-3 times higher than what you'd see in a building constructed in the last decade or so. I may be way off here; it's...

According to someone from city planning, the Breslers said that flooding had ruined the building to such an extent that film shoots and other revenue-generating activities could no longer take place there. They requested permission for a 'temporary' parking lot pending redevelopment within the...

That's a drag; I only managed to eat there once (it was good). There's a large development proposal for the whole block, so they probably wouldn't have stuck around much longer anyway.

    Uniqlo

You make it sound like Mark's Work Wearhouse. No, high quality basics have been fashion-forward forever and particularly among millennials for the better part of a decade. The Uniqlo puffer jackets you mention are regularly seen on street style blogs. Note the success of close competitor...

Nothing wrong with meat that's subject to an extra level of scrutiny imo. They run a mega famous food cart at 53rd and 6th Ave (check the lineup on googlemaps). Over 8,330 Yelp reviews. That's like top 5 most reviewed businesses ever.

Yeah, because every single light in the building is left on 24/7, even when no work is happening.
