    Meadowlark Apartments | RMS Group

I think it’ll be decades away. Technically there’s already TOD (the seniors apartments) which took up the old parking lot. But there’s so much land along SPR, 156, and 87ave that highly utilized parking lots for a now very stable medical centre/strip mall complex, isn’t a near term chance to...

Universiade-pavilion aka 'The Butterdome' - envelope renewal

Yeah, those are just me typing a basic prompt into copilot AI image saying to redo the “butterdome” haha.

100%. And the west has to go to the rec centre and secord. Just wild they couldn’t get those included in massive build outs.

Once the 4 corners of that one traffic circle are done. That feels like the “it’s worked” moment to me. Doesn’t mean it’s been a full success, but it’s not a failure anymore.

All of these would beat the library lol.

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

Yeah. I think the goal has to be to reduce losses, but we can’t expect it to make money. The benefits have to be bigger than financial. The question is, how much can it lose and still be justifiable? What’s reasonable for the positive externalities? Benefit of running it through ETS: 1)...

    Edmonton Real Estate Market

They’ve built, and continue to build huge amounts. The Well. CIBC Square, etc. And they had so much more than us to begin, so sorta like transit ridership, more to lose. I’m assuming that chart isn’t just downtown, but also suburban office parks and all that stuff.

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

Yeah. The logistics and flow patterns definitely take some work to sort out. Not sure how we might fair. I could imagine our north south over the river movements might create more balance than many cities experience? Many in Strathcona work downtown or those downtown work/study at the UofA, etc...

    Downtown Crime

People still think the world is “behind” canada and that the US is the only place we have to worry about losing skilled labour to. We are going to see more and more of our most skilled and wealthy people leave. So many good options out there. Relational ties keep many, but not all, here.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

163st and 95ave are both having major projects done as part of arterial and neighbourhood renewals starting in 2025. So idk what the solution is for the LRT. But more stuff is getting closed. Not to mention 102ave/Wellington bridge. No easy way out.

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

I think Edmonton needs to invest in a Bike Share system instead of relying on these private companies:

Meadows and Lewis Farms? I only see bus stops with 2-3 routes nearby? And 20-30 minute bus connections from the nearby LRTs that are only 5-10min drives away. I.E. we literally make transit unusable vs driving. I’m a 14min drive to the new Lewis farms rec centre. If the LRT was a direct...

    Downtown Crime

I honestly still can’t get my head around how in a city, there’s only a handful of multi billion dollar standalone projects/pieces of infrastructure. And only a few hundreds “blocks” of sidewalk that regularly see 5000+ daily walkers. The LRT entrances check those boxes. Imagine if this was a...

    Edmonton | Stanley A. Milner Library | ?m | 6s | EPL | Teeple Architects

But the lighting and windows make it look way classier and modern. The Milner looks like a literal scrap pile of metal.

    Miscellaneous

Agreed. Our rec centres not having LRT on their doorstep is the most incompetent thing I can imagine. Pisses me off so much that a simple coordination like that can’t be done between departments (no wonder we can’t seem to work with other levels of government or private sector…)

    Downtown Crime

I felt similar when they had the Disney symphony in the square in august. Literally 20,000 people come to it, most with kids. And there were multiple people passed out or doing drugs in shelters for the valley line. EPS are cowards at this point. Bunch of them getting paid 2-3x their already...
