Happy to hear about the lighting. Again, more towers in Ottawa need some of these features. Also interesting that both the 27st and 25st will be built together as part of phase 2.

    Official Plan Update

Might not be the right thread for this but couldn't find any others that would be applicable. City's 'digital twin' offers a virtual glimpse of future Ottawa

    Parks, Plazas and Open Spaces

Might just be my personal opinion but I find it looks pretty tacky with the primary colours.

    General Update/Rumour Thread

They seem to be doing renos to some of the buildings (thank god). One of them seemed to have new balconies and new windows when I was driving west on the 417.

Homelessness in the National Capital Region

Question on the shelter situation. Why is it that everyone is "kicked out" of Shelters during the day and having to spend it on the streets? Wouldn't we see improvements if we let them stay indoors during the day? Could offer these people support? Supervise them? It seems like kicking everyone...

    Ottawa | 1655 Carling Ave | 50+56m | 16+18s | 1655 Carling Development Inc | RLA

Slowly but surely, more of these projects along Carling will make the street more attractive to walk. Hoping to see a few retail units here at the bottom, more of these developments and hopefully some transit improvements on Carling. It has SO MUCH POTENTIAL.

    Ottawa | 1047 Richmond Rd | 24/127/133m | 6/38/40s | Fengate | IBI Group

Any updates on this one? One of the nicer projects I am looking forward to...

    Royale & Muze | 62/84/84m | 18/26/27s | Claridge | NEUF

Still seems to be quite a bit of work to be done on the cladding, podium, and of course the interiors. Wonder when move-in dates start and when we can expect the Metro to reopen.

Ottawa | LeBreton Arena | Populous

Really annoyed that this thing keeps getting delayed, the goalposts keep moving and all these different sites are being thrown in the air. When did Lebreton Arena and some details / renders first get released? Several years ago... and we still don't even have a signed agreement yet. The only...

    Moxy Marriott | 72m | 22s | Rimap | Le Groupe Architex

Where is this? From all of the renders & designs we've seen, the existing building that was on York was supposed to keep its brown brick and industrial look like the new addition and tower all seemed to be glass/white panels (similar to the Zibi tower).

    Ottawa/Gatineau Infill Projects

That project on St-Patrick is so ugly. Looks like an old project you'd see in a suburban pocket of Gatineau. Clearly we can do better for such a central pocket in the urban city.

    Ottawa | The Emmy | 79m | 25s | Place Dorée Real Estate Holdings | GeigerHuot

Nothing crazy but adds density, fills a hole in downtown and adds to the street level experience. Says coming Spring 2024 so I imagine this is almost complete and move-in should start fairly shortly.

    Soul @ Aviation | ?m | 20s | TCU + Kadus Group

This design looks like 95% of it was stolen from SOHO Italia... awkward.

Ottawa | Kìwekì Point (formerly Nepean Point) Redevelopment | NCC | JRS, Patkau

I hope this is almost complete. Looking forward to checking it out this spring/summer!

    Ottawa | James House | 34m | 9s | Urban Capital + Taggart | RAW

Wow, love it. Nice cohesive design, high quality materials and brings added density to Bank St. More of this please!

    2026 Scott Street | 128.7m | 41s | Colonnade Bridgeport | Hobin Architecture

What's most frustrating I think, is example like this where it's not necessarily a developer who is doing a last minute bait-and-switch during construction to save costs, but mostly revisions that had to be made or were proposed by the city & review panels by arbitrary comments and feedback from...

    2026 Scott Street | 128.7m | 41s | Colonnade Bridgeport | Hobin Architecture

And there you have it! Further simplification until the tower resembles almost nothing like the original proposal and has lost most of its unique, high quality defining features... So sad. And the city is patting themselves on the back that this now looks so plain and boring now... Sad as this...

    SoHo Italia | 96m | 30s | Mastercraft Starwood | Roderick Lahey

Looks beautiful. Any other pics of the ground floor? Any announced retail tenants? Wonder when residents start moving in (if they haven't already)?

    265 Catherine St (Former Greyhound terminal) | 109.88/116.65/126.7m | 32/34/36s | Brigil | BDP Quadrangle

I love the graph showing the height changes on the towers... 40 to 36, 36 to 34 but 26 to 32. So effectively, same number of floors, less variation in height and more height on the shorter tower. Will the NIMBYs path themselves on the back for this or...? I would've much preferred the previous...

    Royale & Muze | 62/84/84m | 18/26/27s | Claridge | NEUF

Make it all beige, or all charcoal or full vertical lines. Enough of these random shapes & sizes, this isn't a game of Tetris!
