    Architectural styles unique to Toronto

New article by John Lorinc in today's Globe Real Estate section (possibly behind a paywall) about Toronto Specials. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/real-estate/article-how-the-toronto-special-triplex-is-a-model-to-help-address-the-housing/ See also my map here, for any additions to suggest...

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto | CCxA

Somehow missed that there was going to be a marina included!

    Toronto Toronto | The Brickhouse on Gladstone | 18.5m | 6s | Condoman | Standard Practice

Seems like a missed opportunity for the 'private laneway' that is being provided for vehicular access for this development won't be connected to the north-south laneway between Gladstone and Northcote that runs south from Argyle and dead ends exactly here. .

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line: Exhibition Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

Not a lot of space on the south side of the tracks for the streetcars to extend through to Dufferin (and beyond)?

Toronto Toronto | Rouge National Urban Park Visitor Centre | 6.99m | 1s | Parks Canada | Moriyama & Teshima

The American spelling of 'Centre' in the rendering is unfortunate...

    Toronto Toronto | 1744 Dundas West | 21.9m | 7s | 2684924 Ontario Inc | Sol-Arch

Attractive cities aren't necessarily the move. Messy is best!

    Toronto Toronto | U of T: Landscape of Landmark Quality | ?m | 1s | U of T | MVVA

Hopefully this is the last time one of our public institutions does such a massive carbon-intensive (concrete) parking garage project... A step in the wrong direction for our climate targets.

    Toronto Toronto | 2116 Eglinton West | 30.5m | 9s | Old Stonehenge | Studio JCI

A bit of a shame not to have balconies overlooking the cemetery - a perpetually-unspoiled view...

    Toronto Toronto | XO2 Condos | 71.7m | 19s | Lifetime | Turner Fleischer

Looking forward to the Dufferin bus being replaced by streetcars!

    Leslie Street Spit

This concrete looks amazing! I wonder who the contractor was doing the concrete work? Hard to get good concrete work in my experience...

    Toronto Toronto | Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Controversial take: Millennium Park is too big and is a border vacuum. Ours will be better. Our waterfront (Harbourfront) is already better than Chicago's.

Toronto 14 Division Affordable Housing (321 Dovercourt Rd, 2s, Montgomery Sisam)

Cool initiative, in theory, but this is much too little housing for this location. And this area is not lacking for parks. Should be something like 6 storeys here. Building this would leave at least three times the housing on the table.

    Toronto Toronto | Form Condos | 50.59m | 14s | Tridel | a—A

I second the praise for the wayfinding. Any idea who did the signage design? In-house at Architects Alliance, or the landscape consultant?

    Toronto Toronto | ANX | 48.07m | 13s | Freed | Teeple Architects

344 Dupont is not part of this redevelopment, hm? Not included in the latest posted drawings.

    Architectural styles unique to Toronto

My Google mapping of Angel Brick Walk Up Apartments, "Toronto Specials", was featured in a column by The Globe & Mail's Dave LeBlanc (the Architourist) in today's paper. Vaughan Toronto | SmartCentres: Highway 400 & 7 | ?m | 45s | SmartCentres | Weston Williamson

The number 10 bus has a stop at Chrislea and Portage, at the northeast of this site. Service is awful at about twice hourly, but if you're willing to time your departure, you're a five minute trip away from the subway terminal.

    Toronto Toronto | The Carnaby Condos | 70.41m | 20s | Streetcar | TACT Architecture

Although there is a ramp on the west side of Dufferin, I would have preferred to see a ramped access to the Toronto West Railpath integrated into this park as well, both for barrier-free accessibility, and to allow cyclists to continue north on Dufferin.

    Toronto Toronto | Lawrence Heights Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Context Development | KPMB

It looks as though they're holding space for an extension of Mikado Avenue south of Ranee - is that planned?
