    Toronto Toronto | Sugar Wharf Condominiums (Phase 2) | 299m | 90s | Menkes | a—A

From some of the press materials it seems to indicate that set back middle building is “future residential”. So I was wondering if, as you say, they are planning on building all three at once? I also think the school is in the base of that 3rd building? If so, my guess is that the building and...

Where can I find what the updated timeline is for the middle building construction? Just wondering when my view of the waterfront will be completely blocked out :)

Are there any details here about how this proposal might affect the use of the parking garage rooftop as patio space by 25 Esplanade?

Yeah, it’s a pretty industrial view anyways, that’s why I’m not too bummed out about it. This building is older without floor to ceiling glazing or even balconies, so the view is not highly prioritized. When I want a nice view I walk down to the water taxi dock 5 minutes away and head to the...

It does suck, but I’m also realistic about it. People gotta go somewhere. And there’s always the opportunity to buy in the new building to get the view back :) (just kidding - I would never buy a brand new condo again. I like my 30yo concrete bunker very much!)

Thanks! Doing some research about this and the Sugar Wharf condos. I like the plans to extend PATH in this direction, and possibly connecting Church to Cooper under the Green P lot. On the downside it seems my view will end up something like this when it’s all done :) :

What would heritage designation mean considering it seems the plans are to substantially incorporate the existing building anyways?

I may as well contribute my view from 25 Esplanade, you can see why I might be interested :)

Just wondering, where can I find out more about the plans for this LCBO building and the surrounding streetscape? Thanks!

1 Yonge (Pinnacle International) - Real Estate -

Hi, I just recently purchased a south facing unit in 25 Esplanade which is directly facing this build. When it’s done it’s gonna take a bit of my lake view but it should be an impressive tower to look at :) Without reading the whole thread, can someone summarize the build status of the 3...

Wood stud partition walls in condos?

That’s a good point, one of these partition walls will actually be used to hang more upper kitchen cabinets on the other side, so the wood is certainly a better structure for that.

Wood stud partition walls in condos?

In my case I am putting back walls that were originally there - the previous owner converted a 2br into a large 1br and I am just returning it to the original plans. (Of course with condo board approval). But I’d prefer not to ask them about the wood vs metal studs until I understand what code...

Wood stud partition walls in condos?

I want to build a partition wall in my condo. I would prefer to use wood studs rather than flimsy metal studs. Does anyone know is there is some kind of fire code forbidding the use of wood studs in condo buildings in Toronto? Thanks!

Quite frankly, even artificial turf would achieve the visual barrier and aesthetic goals, and be maintenance free. Otherwise, grass block pavers (for turf driveways) are very durable, although I think whether or not they can survive a winter of salting is still an unknown.

"“We’re just concerned that it’s very close to the University of Toronto (Mississauga) campus and we suspect that it could become dominated by students.” Oh sure, that's where students want to live - in a Retirement home / Convent!

Warden station is near St Clair not Eglinton. The crosstown won’t feed it. I do use GO often, it just depends if I’m heading closer to Bloor or Union.

    Toronto Ridiculous NIMBYism thread

First of all, the Warden station north lot is nearly full on weekdays. I understand why it might be more convenient to live walk-ably to the station, but so what? Making it easier for a small number of local residents makes it *harder* for a larger number of car commuters. It shouldn’t matter...

    Toronto Ridiculous NIMBYism thread

I don't understand why we should take away one very valid use to create another. There is plenty of land in Scarborough to build on that doesn't displace an existing usage.

    Toronto Ridiculous NIMBYism thread

I do not live at St Clair and Warden and can't speak for the attitudes of homeowners there. However I am a regular transit user who drives to Warden station. I don't understand the logic that takes away the ability for almost 1000 people to commute by transit downtown by parking their car, and...
