    We were in the UK at the time - GBP9 /mo = C$15/mo. We're now back in Canada and have both an electronic Globe subscription, as well as a paper Saturday subscription. The latter is essentially just a charitable donation, and we want our kids to see us reading "real" papers once in a while.

    Genuine query - why the obsession with empty condos? Vacancies are super low and rental rates are sky high. It's not like owners are having a tough time finding tenants.

    Most of Gerrard has a commercial tilt to it. The stretch through Cabbagetown/Regent Park could be vibrant, given all of the towers going up (full of potential customers) and the 4 transit stops between River and Parliament. Bring it on, I say.

    Their business model was providing cars...and gas, insurance, and maintenance, and depreciation, and a system to find cars, and billing. Car2Go wasn't a parking space arbitrage.

    The company didn't park their cars on the street - its users (our neighbours) did. Now they'll buy cars and park on the street all the time, instead of just some of the time. More cars in the neighbourhood. Fewer choices for those who would like to be carless 99% of the time. This is a loss...

    No. Only a minority some will (or do, or would have...). Not all cars would arrive at once, and the site has 3 temp parking spots.

    Actually, for this site I would love a low-rise condo - maybe 4-5 stories with setbacks. I bet you could add 40 or so units on that space. It would add vibrancy...and now I'm dreaming about Park Snacks getting a liquor license, or a craft brewery! Mmmm!

    Carlton Street seems to have more red brick than I realized - there's a large pothole on the north side near Carlton/Metcalfe, and you can clearly see the red brick paving underneath the crumbling asphalt.

    Totally agree. Some people see an empty room and can not possibly visualize where the furniture would go! I married someone like this.

    Spot on. South London feels "removed", not necessarily sketchy though...Dulwich is lovely, and even Peckham and Brixton have gentrified.
