    Queen Street West

Mystery solved. According to this map (http://jpeg2000.eloquent-systems.com/toronto.html?image=mt-845.jp2), the block between wasn't populated/developed in 1862, and I can surmise that it remained so until lots started popping up. I'm guessing that addresses had to be re-assigned based on...

    Queen Street West

Hm. Not much action in this section in recent years. I've been researching this area off/on for years and I was wondering if anyone knows what happened to the block of Queen Street b/w Spadina and Portland (south side) between 1889 and 1890. I was looking at the city directory and it appears...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

Someone responded to this post, asking about the reason for requesting a photo of that specific area. I live in the immediate vicinity, and I thought it would be interesting to see what it looked like anywhere from the 80's and before. Cheers.

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

Yes, I know this is a 7 year old post. :) Just wanted to see if anyone's stumbled across any photos from this area since then (south looking view from Cameron/Queen). Cheers.

Queen Street West: Then and Now

As a resident of Queen West and a semi-retired shutterbug, I also want to throw in my thanks for this thread. :) Good work.

No particular building actually. I just like this particular stretch as it mixes in some buildings that must be around 150 years old with some (unfortunately) stark, cold, utilitarian architecture as well. Anything west of the TD bank that stands there now would be ideal.

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

Greetings! I have another question for the sleuthier UT'ers amongst you, seeing as you were lightning fast the last time. I have been trying to find an image of the south side of Queen between Spadina and Cameron, but to no avail. In fact, the closest view I have from the Toronto archives is...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

BINGO! You must be some kind of wizard. That view is looking NNW if memory serves, correct? I work at Spadina/Wellington now so I've always wondered about this one.

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

Hey UTer's I have a question. I remember that there was an image posted of the area just below Queen/Spadina from the late 1800's/early 1900's. In this image, there was a gentleman walking into the underground restroom that used to be there. I have searched for this image on the forum...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

I think I may have posted that incorrectly. Way to go, me! <take 2> Always good to come back and see this thread going strong. Last time I was here I think Mustapha and Aladone were the main contributors, but it's awesome to see Goldie's adds in there as well. Excellent work as always, all...

Cost of commuting to and from the 416

Hi Vic. Not really. I'm closer to the Cooksville GO station, but I need to get to the Exhibition stop, which I could only do if I circled back once I got to Union in the morning. Hence the 20 min trip by foot/MT to the Port Credit stop in the morning. In any case, I'm not in dire...

Cost of commuting to and from the 416

I totally hear where you're coming from. The whole 'working where you live' concept is certainly an ideal, and one that not everyone can take advantage of. I just added that in there because whenever I have a discussion about this with friends of mine, the number one response I get is "Well...

Cost of commuting to and from the 416

Solaris: Start it up. :) CDL: I didn't know that. That's actually quite helpful. Definitely a step in the right direction anyways. Now if only the TTC had a similar system in place.

Cost of commuting to and from the 416

I've searched for similar threads, but I couldn't easily spot one. Currently I'm taking advantage of a living situation that has me commuting from the 905 to the 416. I did a little research to see if this was in fact beneficial to me from a financial standpoint. Now, first thing's first...

These shots have a completely different charm to them than most of the earlier ones, but a charm nevertheless. Thanks for posting!

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Nothing of the sort sir. :) And I agree that subways > buses as a replacement for the SC fleet. But would be quite a utopian option. The main point of my post was that as a city, Toronto seems to be looking at the notion of replacing streetcars with anything as almost blasphemous...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I just want to disclaim a little bit and mention that I've only read the first 2, and last 2 pages of replies, so forgive me if I point out anything that's been said already. I think Toronto has been forced into a situation where they have no choice but to maximize what they can do with their...
