It’s slightly ironic but the large blank wall backs on to graffiti alley. Shame some of the colour and vibrancy couldn’t percolate through the wall to brighten up the station.

Do these open vertical spaces raise an issue with smoke/fire containment? Would that open-ish shaft act like a chimney and draw fire up through the levels rapidly?

Dreading the traffic on Spadina - buses replacing streetcars, traffic backed up from the Gardiner and now trucks hauling excavated material. It's going to be a mess. I keep repeating to myself that omelettes can't be made without breaking eggs, but /sigh

But now almost 70 years later, the building is looking dowdy and dirty... @ProjectEnd what is it that you actually like about the structure...? I'm with @Northern Light on this one.

Are they planning to do the same at Queen-Spadina?

I assume that they aren’t planning on having it ready for occupancy for fall ‘24….

It’s interesting, in a bad way, how changing the windows changed to look of the building. The original windows contributed a lot to the industrial feel of the building, and they were replaced by large undivided panes of glass the building lost a lot of its charm. Shame really. I do like a nice...

NE corner building - The issue with a height above 15 storeys is said to be the presence of Ogden elementary school which is NE of the site. Shadows on the playground…. (I also agree that the sidewalks need to be widened, especially on the SW corner and brought it up at the Metrolinx...

No reason to believe that what you see is end state. Development works cyclically, and as the entire area densifies, this site probably will too.

The property owner to the south took this project to the OLT back in the Fall. AmJ
