Any Canadian-owned chains of coffee shops?

So that's what happened to that place. I always thought it felt like a chain. You could tell by the menu and how orderly everything was carried out. Independents aren't so laser focussed on having a sterile atmosphere and perfect displays.

The western invasion: Toronto's new restaurant kings

It was fun reading through the comments here. I avoid these chains like the plague when I'm on my own, but if we're meeting a Toronto based client it makes for an easy, non-offensive meal and since it's being expensed anyway it's really a much better option than most non-chains. I did end up at...

    Midtown Toronto

Yeah, we'll probably see a few more businesses from that doomed building migrate a bit north as well. Gamerama already jumped ship and the Korean Cowboy was only a short-term venture to begin with. It's a shame to lose that building, the upkeep isn't great but it's unique and one of those...

    Midtown Toronto

I'm not. They're annoying IMO. Cars wanting to pull out and turn left could have gone North or South a few blocks. It seems too close to the main intersection and really creates a lot of congestion in that area. Both driving and walking through I find it to be an annoying downgrade. I've...

Condos That Allow Large Pets (85lb Dog)

Your only restriction is the law. When it comes to pets they can't enforce anything unless there was someone with a pre-existing allergy to your pet within close proximity to your unit.

How long is your regular daily commute?

I went from living at Y&E and working at Dufferin and Steeles to working at First Canadian Place. My old commute took me from Eglinton station to the 60 Steeles bus. It took anywhere from 45-65 mins to get to work depending on if the subway decided to crawl along through Lawrence and York...

Tiger Direct retail outlets are History (it's still operating online)

I miss the good 'ol days of having to drive all the way up to Pacific Mall to get something from Canada Computers. Sure their return policy consisted of being yelled at in a Chinese dialect, but damnit I'm sad to see the severely overpriced cables and other not-so cheap goods they're hawking in...

    Toronto Toronto | Ïce Condominiums at York Centre | 234.07m | 67s | Lanterra | a—A

Wow, FCP is no longer the hero in our skyline shots.

    Toronto Toronto | Yorkdale Shopping Centre | ?m | ?s | Oxford Properties | MMC Architecture

Wow... Malls are dying in the US, yet Oxford has two cash cows in Yorkdale and Square One and is investing heavily in them. An anomaly in North America? Of course there's always cities like Bangkok that have first rate malls popping up on every block.

    Gap closing 25% of stores

True, I guess I didn't realize Abercrombie was suffering too, I never step foot in those places. H&M is my go-to store though. I get nice dress pants there for $29-$39, dress shirts as low as $18 that fit perfectly... Plus once I push aside all the hipster-looking and overly skinny fitting...

    Gap closing 25% of stores

I remember being in high school back in the 90s and all my clothes were from the GAP and Club Monaco. H&M effectively killed the GAP along with Amercrombie, Hollister and stores like Forever 21. Talk about a brand stuck in the past...

    Toronto Toronto | The Madison | 121m | 36s | Madison Group | Kirkor

Terrific progress on this! The area desperately needs a decent grocery store within walking distance of the station. That Metro is unbelievably bad, I can't believe I've been relying on it for so long now. Having a new (larger) LCBO will be a boost too. I hope they don't shutter the one next...
