TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Is the storage expansion at Hillcrest a given? Or will these be stored at improvised locations like Exhibition Loop? Tons of tall here about this years back but I don’t recall a clear resolution.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Holy crap. Reading the dates. I think of 407 as new. This is 30 years old.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

*I hear an axe grinding* Far more salt is used on sidewalks - personally that is my pet peeve - to create an Elmer the Safety Elephant environment where no one will ever slip. Salt is used to prevent far more than car slippage in the winter.

Toronto Toronto | GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I was on Castlefield this week. Barrie GO has an at-grade crossing here which is very disruptive to traffic and btw the train was flying through the intersection - didnt feel very ‘safe’ by today‘s standards. Is there a plan to grade separate this crossing?

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I checked my facts there first, but am I right to read that the grand unions weren’t there in the 1963 diagram?

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

The three current grand unions are at Spadina and King, Spadina and Queen, and Bathurst and King. Those intersections are much simpler here. I had (mistakenly) thought they would have always been so. Based on this, the most complex intersections are some pretty minor ones. Church and King...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

So on the topic of winding things up, what are the key incomplete, critical path issues which prevent revenue service from being started, say…today? On one hand, we have cheerful Metrolinx tweets about max speed testing underground and taking a look at the surface section east of Brentcliffe a...

And while we're at it, is there any plan to remove the plates welded onto the tracks on Victoria St, and return the Dundas Square to Shuter and Shuter to Queen blocks to service(able short turn usage)? Great fanfare on converting the overhead at Dundas Square and re-doing the special work there...

but not quite sure why one would want that. Network robustness. Short turn flexibility.

Are there any curves and special work that have been destroyed and pissed away on Richmond that need to be restored?

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

As a kid - I took Line 2 to school. Got on west of Old Mill. I loved when the subway travelled over the Humber at Old Mill. I was thinking that the view would be great at Eglinton Flats on Line 5. Gotta love these councillors. Solving all these *real* problems. It's not for no reason that the...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

It's striking and exciting to look at this and see the change in standards, scale, imagination from the original Queen station box to the new Ontario line. Seventy years has brought a lot of change. Three thoughts: 1. You have to walk half a train length back from the Line 1 train to get to...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I think at this stage, we are at 10% design. Design a flat station length section in if the budget for the station isn’t there. Future-proof a several billion dollar investment.

It's not like we can't infill a station. North York Centre.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Glass half full. Glass half empty. This is the half empty view. It's been 22 yrs since Jan 1, 2000 and we got 6 stops on Line 1 (TYSSE) and Line 4. Not a great 20 yrs. And in 20 before that Downsview, Kipling, Kennedy and the Scarborough LRT. Even less. This (past) decade brings two...
