    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

We need a thread just for all the Truman projects. Hard to keep track of all of them

Pretty sure there is a bus route that goes straight thru this development. Dumb rants are fun to read though 🤦‍♂️🙄 Edit… yes WB route 26

What would a DP cost for a project like this?

I can see 15 new ones going up 👏 Edit. That’s with what we know has started. Might be quite a few more started that we don’t know about 🤙

    Calgary International Airport

Did some research on the 1500 mile limit. Saturdays are a slow day at LGA so they lift the limit on that day. Cool that we get at least one day a week service there. No many airports have service to all 3 NYC airports

Why would the province care. Appeasing your supporters. Getting votes. There was no reasonable reason for province to pull funding and cause all this mess besides the above??

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

If the city and province do come to a compromise on a route through downtown. What’s to say the Feds don’t change their position. With an election looming in 2025. A conservative majority or coalition government could change their contribution or even give input on how they want to go through...

I’m not all against elevated either. Though we don’t know the costs of elevated vs tunnelled either. The province just shoving it down our throats isn’t making a good case for it. Not just dollars to build it. The potential lawsuits from property owners on lost value of their properties. All the...

Vancouver, London aren’t elevated thru downtown (core). Elevated is fine with me outside city core. Reason cities have started removing freeway structure through city centres as well (Seattle, Boston, NYC etc). They make once bright corridors dark and lifeless

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Chicago is elevated outside the true core. The Loop is underground. The point I was making is a very high percentage of mass transit through major cities are underground. Just because an incompetent partner decides late in the game to change their mind doesn’t make it the right decision. City...

Elevated out of downtown is fine. Through the core is very rare. Only city I can remember having it right downtown is Miami and it’s not ideal there.

With all the hail damage recently maybe that goes into factoring during design nowadays? Look at the airport and all the windows in Concourse B that were damaged. You’d think some of those designs in Calgary would be prone to damage/flooding.

As per the start of the 3rd tower. I’m surprised the city didn’t require a bond or a time frame for filling in that ugly pit along the NE corner of the property where the third tower is going. I’m not a hater of this project so far , but that hole just puts a blight on everything for me

    Calgary | Lincoln | 120m | 37s | Truman | NORR

Seems Truman is gung ho on getting all there developments going quickly. Wonder when Marc and Marda, the Rise and the proposed one by stampede (hotel?) might get shovels in the ground. Wish all developers in Calgary were this optimistic about the market

    Calgary | Lincoln | 120m | 37s | Truman | NORR

It’s actually pretty smart the way they’ve done it. Guys do the shoring on one, then move to next one and so on. Then dig the pit on first, then move onto second and so on. Gotta be a cost savings on that
