Not really any info on the city website, but the timeline does seem to lineup with the 4th avenue flyover rehabilitation project. Maybe construction trailers for that work? https://www.calgaryparking.com/find-parking/lots/lot-75.html#lots

Stations are a lot more peanuts when you start talking low floor LRV, especially one like Douglas Glen where the parking lots already all built out for park and ride. You'd just be cannibalizing ridership at that point.

Another TOD proposal across from the future Douglas Glen Green Line station. Not the densest, but considering it's been vacant for decades I guess take what you can get. https://developmentmap.calgary.ca/?find=DP2024-00045 3 x 6 storey (459 units total)

You nailed it, that's what they said during the presentation. The entire development is built to make use of it for the economics of the site, including the 13 story towers that will build a connected underground walkway to utilize it.

Most of it is already even landscaped, has been for years. This is on top of a fourth 13 story tower at Deville by the Coop in Quarry park, more 13 story towers north of Les Jardins and some mid/low rise product there as well. The city also has some TOD rezoning further north on 24st by the...

To be fair, some communities along the Green Line were built in the 80s/90s and the builders were advertising a future train station too. 🤣

There's some coring going on near the Lafarge exit from Anderson / Bow Bottom (near the ivor strong bridge). Not sure if it's related to this project but wouldn't be shocked. Edit: Found it on the website, guess it's related! https://www.deerfootimprovements.ca/permanent-ramp-closure/

Not sure where this fits but I noticed the old YWCA downtown is getting demolished finally.. Does anyone know if that's still Great Gulf that owns that site?

For what it's worth I don't think everyone in the community is against it, but the people who live directly on those streets have been pretty vocal they don't support it.

What's the relative density of these European cities in comparison to Calgary though? I suspect there's a bit of a difference there, you have less people here with longer distances so travel time becomes an important factor in whether or not people take transit.

It just seems to me that the current system has such a heavy council component. Elected officials are always going to have a tough time with the current system going against the potential opinions of citizens that they're trying to get votes from going forward. The system seems to treat mega...

Procurement isn't even done yet if you're talking about the Deerfoot improvements. The equipment by the Ivor Strong specifically is just Enmax putting in some manholes and conduit to support substation upgrades.

Bit of a mix but I didn't take any screenshots unfortunately... The basic plan is the road will connect through to 24st with another set of lights, two pieces zoned for buildings similar to the Deville towers (~13 stories) with some mid rise in the middle towards the top facing Quarry Rise North...
