GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

Will BiLevels be getting on-board PIDS soon? This was a few weeks ago and I can't find it now, but someone on my LinkedIn network posted complaining about the lack of onboard displays for next station announcements and a manager from Metrolinx commented that they are working on implementing a...

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

I feel ok about this plan. But an elevated low floor tram through a North American downtown core is going to be one of the funniest things to happen in transit infrastructure history. This thing is going to attract transit nerds from all over the world purely because of how bizarre it is.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Half of these stations don’t even have platform canopies, none of them have escalators, and they will be finished with bare concrete interiors and visible conduit. Insane. We need a national inquiry into infrastructure waste and corruption in this country asap

    TTC Cartography, Signage, and Wayfinding

Bumping this thread, but I noticed that the TTC is undertaking a wayfinding strategy and finished a feedback session on November 12. https://www.ttc.ca/riding-the-ttc/Updates/TTC-developing-a-new-Wayfinding-Strategy-to-help-enhance-customer-experience I am confused as to why the TTC isn't just...

Hurontario Zoning Plan For The LRT and Dundas BRT

Are there protections for platform extensions on this line?

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Are these line 2 trains 100% going to be metal cattle cars again or could we get fully painted bodies like the rest of the civilized world? (And Montreal)

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Toronto’s next transit megaproject should be to finally fix the ceilings in all stations. The state of some stations is beyond embarrassing. NYC used to be the poster child for poor SOGR but they have largely renovated the worst decaying stations. Toronto is definitely worse now.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Its sad but entirely predictable. One can only hope that the value engineering has been done with the goal of prioritizing 15min frequencies at the expense of other promises and not wholesale value engineering for the sake of the bottom line. Globally, almost every large infrastructure...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

So I know we have elevations and site plans of the stations for this extension - why no renders?

    Toronto Toronto | The Pemberton | 215.79m | 68s | Pemberton | a—A

My one ask on this project is that they get rid of this homesense-esque kitsch on the podium

    Toronto Toronto | 530 Yonge Street | 224.8m | 68s | KingSett Capital | Giannone Petricone

What is the most ambitious/flashy proposal in the city that has a good chance of actually being built?

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

If I am reading the amendment right - the province is no longer mentioning University bike lanes but now Avenue Rd instead? Or have they simply added the Avenue bike lanes to be removed as well? Perhaps the permanent infrastructure and contracts being signed on University scared them off?

    Toronto Toronto | 299 Ossington | ?m | 3s | ROC Developments | StudioAC

Would it kill them to shell out for a few pavers instead of poured concrete for the landscaping? Seriously what is with this city and the lack of diversity in landscaping materials?

    Zoning Reform Ideas

Crazy that our multiplex bylaw caps out right below the CMHC threshold. Why don’t we just update the bylaw to 5+ units city wide to align with CMHC incentives? The hard part of introducing the bylaw is arguably done. Updating the bylaw for more units should encounter much less public resistance.

    Quebec-Windsor Corridor

Another sovereigntist swing is brewing in Quebec and the conservatives will have to adapt to the political realities that a PQ majority is going to present. Carrots will be on the table. Simply put: I don't think it will be as easy as many here are speculating for the cons to shelve this...

    Toronto Toronto | 100 Lombard | 216m | 59s | Forum Asset Mgmt | OMA

Koolhaus is way out of the picture now. Jason Long runs most of the projects in North America, and this being a condo project I imagine there are not any senior partners involved at all. This is revenue generating filler for the firm as were their recent condos in Miami.

    Toronto Toronto | 710 Lansdowne Avenue | 12.99m | 4s | REVE DVMT | Craig Race Architecture

I am amazed how on-brand that letter is. Its like someone asked ChatGPT to come up with the most stereotypical NIMBY objection letter possible.

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

So what is the hold-up here? Why doesn't the Mayor just play realpolitik with Doug on this? "We agree to take out the bike lanes but you have to make a commitment on WELRT and EELRT"
