KPF still on the docs is a good sign I guess? They are known for not putting up with excessive value engineering

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s

The political cost of not opening this line by the end of 2024 is very high. How many anticipated opening years have gone by now? That being said, I agree with @allengeorge here. It does not seem likely for this line to open by December knowing what we know now. I expect Finch West to open...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Place | ?m | ?s | Infrastructure ON

This will be walking distance from the Ontario Line and Exhibition Go with 15 min all day service by the time it opens.

I have a feeling I might be in the minority, but I really do not mind these plans at all. The only thing that I find disappointing is the massive parking garage. The science centre move is a bit silly but I don't find it to be egregious. I would have rather seen IO try to attract a different...

    Mississauga Toronto | M3 at M City | 260.29m | 77s | Rogers Real Estate | Arcadis

Mississauga increasingly reminds me of Central Asian cities like Astana. Huge, expressive tower designs surrounded by mega-stroads.

    Laneway and Garden Houses (various)

I wonder if the city would ever explore allowing retail uses in laneways. A pilot could look at areas such as Baldwin Village/Chinatown. I think these areas could be even more interesting with fine-grain retail along the laneways. I know SOCA recently put on a exhibition exploring this type of...

    Toronto 10 Ordnance Park | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | DTAH

Boring parks are one thing but the lacklustre amount of seating here is far more disappointing in my opinion. Especially considering the amount of people that live within walking distance. At least a boring park with lots of seating will still be a vibrant place where human connection can happen.

    Zoning Reform Ideas

In your opinion is the fourplex bylaw as passed in Toronto good in its current form, or does it need amendments to generate more uptake? I have seen discussion that the bylaw is filled with "poison pills" that make units hard to pencil out.

I would guess sale performance increases when you have a prestigious firm on the conceptual design? Concord can come in and market the site as designed by AS+GG then before sales launch they have resubmitted with a Dialog or Wallman design.

EllisDon to Lead Prairie Link High-Speed Rail Partners - Edm-RD-Cal

This project just makes sense. Two cities ~ 300km apart (golden distance for HSR to be competitive with flying), no major water bodies or difficult terrain to pass, existing rail corridor, relatively cheap land. I just hope it isn't watered down to an Amtrak Acela version of high-speed rail...

I see the single-stair (elevator) discourse has made it to UT. You either think single egress is the devil incarnate or you think it is the solution to housing affordability. There seems to be no middle ground lol. All I will say is: there is a trade-off between accessibility and affordability...

Nice stone (?) cladding on the front. More of this would be nice to have even off of major streets.

    Zoning Reform Ideas

I feel like its possible that Edmonton will overtake Calgary in population within the medium-long term. Calgary seems to have lost its build, build, build mentality and is slowly falling into the same degrowth NIMBYism that Toronto is plagued with. Edmonton seems to be the only city in Canada...

Edmonton's population is booming, where are all the new proposals?

South and west of the Henday in particular seems to have more development than other parts. I will be interested to see how effective the multiplex zoning pans out to be. A lot of cities (Victoria, Minneapolis, Toronto, Vancouver) have seen very few actually built despite being allowed...

Edmonton's population is booming, where are all the new proposals?

Edmonton grew at 4.5% in 2023 and we can expect 4.4% in 2024. Why have we not seen a flood of new development proposals? Is this just a result of the current lending environment? Are housing starts being absorbed by the city's new multiplex laws (which don't require rezoning)? Or is most of the...

    Toronto Toronto | Lawrence East Transit-Oriented Community | 132m | 36s | Infrastructure ON | Weston Williamson

Is this really Arcadis on the design here or just AOR? This design could pass as SvN or even current Henning Larsen. If so, the Arcadis buyout of IBI might be the best thing that happened to Canadian architecture in the past decade.

Need more of these micro-sized food CRU's across the city. One reason food is incredibly cheap in Hong Kong despite insane real estate prices (often cheaper to eat out than buy from grocery stores) is that they have a massive inventory of micro-retail units.

    Toronto Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Quite maddening that bus lanes have not been implemented on lakeshore outside of the terminal. I guess the tricky part is being so close to the right turn onto Bay, there would have to be a right turn ban onto Bay to actually increase flow here. That and a continuation of the bus lane onto the...

Homelessness on GTA Transit (catch all)

If the BC NDP is willing to move towards involuntary treatment I think its safe to say the social acceptance of a more strict approach to mental health & homelessness is increasing in this country. Also, if @Northern Light is right in their estimate of 200-300 people consistently using the TTC...
