I’m loving that setback on the west side of Dundas!

Really hoping for something interesting to the general public in the corner retail....would rather something other than a pet food store or a dentist.

As someone from the immediate neighbourhood, it would be great if this were a bit more ambitious (retail etc)...

…I wish for red brick and less glass.

So you are going to tell me that the crossways is getting a connection to TTC and this massive project breaking ground literally beside the platform will not?!! Sorry…new pictures open old wounds…though I guess these renders look pretty much identical to the last round….

Please tell me this could still be a thing! I need some hope I won’t have to stare at a glass wall for the rest of my days! All a designer needs do is stand on the corner and look north. Inspiration abounds just north of the Shoppers!

I just wish it wasn’t all glass and matched the aesthetic of what we are getting up in the Junction.

What are the chances we get an improvement in the built form at this point in the approval cycle? What lag time should we expect until they break ground?

If the street level retail & entrance along Bloor was a bit more interesting (such as the east facade), I'd chalk this up as overall positive... Edit: That and I suppose properly coloured brick. Orange(!!!), Red-ish Brown, even Purple (a la Junction Point), etc.

I just got notice that the July 2021 hearing has been adjourned till January 10, 2022. Any speculations on why this would be?

Did this this colorless render strike out yet? The recent summary article pictures capture the unbelievable decline in form over the last 10+ years of discussion on this site. It would be a massive gut punch to see this last design built on what will be one of the most important intersections...

Ha. Close enough for me! “Red-er* than Gray brick!! Yes!!”

What are the chances we get another visual redesign before they break ground? I don’t follow enough developments like this to know what the odds would typically be.

    Toronto Toronto | 1540 Bloor West | 91.9m | 27s | Trinity Group | IBI Group

How can it be that a just few blocks to the north we have some of the most beautifully designed buildings being built (junction point, junction house, etc), yet in what appears to be a much larger & more costly proposal, the built form end up like this. I’m one of the few area residents who...

Rounded red brick will always be better for the Junction vs rounded concrete-esqe brutalist aggregate... I would call this a major decline over the previous exterior material. The built form is a wash (I prefer the previous), but I cannot imagine choosing any exterior material over red brick...

    Toronto Toronto | Westbend Residences | 44.08m | 13s | Mattamy Homes | BDP Quadrangle

I guess there is no hope Mattamy homes sticks with Quadrangle for the design? Based on the reactions in this thread I was expecting another BeBloor style development, but based on some of Mattamy's other work in the city, perhaps we could still end up with something slightly more unique?

    Toronto Toronto | 1540 Bloor West | 91.9m | 27s | Trinity Group | IBI Group

As a resident living to the west and walking by this site pretty much every day, I would give resounding support to this proposal (to go as high as they want) with the following changes: - public atrium w/ proper retail potential...would be a shame for this to end up like Yonge and Eglinton...

I sure wish this design team could infiltrate the 1540 Bloor project. This design is so much more responsive to the vibe of this historic neighbourhood.
