I've gotta get out more. I'll say Chicago's number 2 on my list, as my experience of major US cities is only NYC, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Las Vegas, Buffalo and Tampa.

Though Vegas was very interesting, as I got to see much more than the Strip. I never liked it though (except aspects of the Strip).
