Just thought I would share these 1955 aerial shots from the Midland and Sheppard and Birchmount and Sheppard area. If I had a plane I could Then and Now them but I am poor

those are quite beautiful--thanks for posting them. i love the bluish cast to them. its interesting how low to the ground they are, and how raked the angle is. They have an odd look--the shakiness and immediacy of them makes them almost look they were shot during a bombing raid, which is I think probably not true.

The first picture is Sheppard facing west with Brimley at the bottom right corner. A lot of the main streets back then had a jog in them at main intersections. The second picture is the south east corner of Midland and Sheppard facing south east. The third is Sheppard facing east between Kennedy and Midland. The story behind this group of photos is a Mr. Jack Shadlock paid a pilot 5 dollars to fly him around the neighbourhood just so he can see what it looks like from the air. He showed them to me and I was amazed at the change compared to now. Enjoy.

What I find interesting is the lack of evidence of the 401--or is there evidence I haven't looked clearly at? (It opened around here when? 1956?)

No 401 in site , you are correct. Very rural looking and and Agincourt had the small town feel about it before every inch of Scarborough was developed in the next 30 years.
