It's going to be interesting to see how the city councilors align themselves. So far Soknacki has the support of Ainslie. Chow has the support of McConnell and Layton. I'm not sure if anyone else has declared support.

Some things I've been wondering:

Will Ford get a single supporter?

Will Vaughan support Chow?

Will Perruzza support fellow NDPer Chow or his buddy Ford?

Will council's right-wing fracture between the conservative candidates, rally behind Tory, or withhold support entirely?

Vaughan and Peruzza will support Chow. Most of the right will back Tory. Ford probably won't get any support except from Doug.

The same can be said for people that are currently supporting Chow without seeing her platform first, no?

We know her platform- raise taxes, fees, levies, etc. to support social programs and pet projects that well intended yet idealistic socialists like her and her late husband (RIP) promoted their entire lives. Anything else she says is mere campaigning and pandering for votes. Make no mistake. This woman is a dangerous person to have in power and anyone who earns a decent living for their family and cares about the future of this city, particularly with regards to absolutely essential transit spending, should avoid her at all costs.

Vote for John Tory.

How was it not, it's always been designed with the vision of the European style urban fabric than designed to address key areas for riders.

It was designed to get usable, affordable, substantive mass transit to areas of the city that are currently underserved. It is bizarre to me that a plan that was targeted at the suburbs and less developed areas of the city somehow got labelled as elitist and ideological.

Can you provide three examples of socialist projects that she herself promoted during her 14 years in city government?

Vote for John Tory.

"John Tory: No really, this time I'll win!"

Tory is nothing but a empty-suited backroom boy who is a perennial loser at the ballot box and old-fashioned panderer to voters. He hasn't had an original idea since he proposed broadening taxpayer funding of sectarian religious schools (now that's a true fiscal conservative!) and thus shot himself in the foot electorally.

With regards to Chow, Chinese is not a single language, but a group of similar languages. Mandarin and Cantonese are as different from each other as French and Spanish are different from each other. Lumping the Chinese languages together as a single language is like lumping all the Romance languages together and call them Latin.

some of the lines that never got funding were rather ideological, they had very low ridership for even LRTs by Canadian standards. most of them could have been BRT lite a la VIVA and been fine. the plan that ended up getting funded however was generally sound.

To be fair, when he was heading our beloved Rogers (before the schools thing, I know, but you really have to DIG) he came up with a very original idea: "We'll bill you for crap you don't want, and if you don't like it, we'll take away the stuff you want". Well, not that original. It's kinda the Columbia House model.

really? that's all you got? providing a "healthy snack"? no forced marches into the countryside?

Apparently, every snack comes with a side of Mandatory Re-Education and great leaps of forward. She's Pol Pot II!
