problems with late results - are the late results a 1st world problem - are voting machines a possible solution - do we need patience and should we live with paper ballots for security.

You can do a hybrid, paper ballots with electronic tabulation is what Toronto and Edmonton does. Works really well.

I didn't know that.
I suppose that it wasn't fair to compare an American voting system to Canada. I forgot that American ballots can be arms length since they vote on many things.. I can take solace in the simplicity of ours.

Not so much related to the 2018 census, but in regards to census data in general. The city is reviewing the census procedure. Some people are wanting to have it every 2 or 3 years instead of annually.

I wouldn’t mind having the census every two years, if it was going to save a lot of money. The article doesn’t say how much money it would save though, and if it’s not going to be a lot I’d rather have it every year.

I've always thought it was a bit of a waste to do it every single year, every 2 or 3 years should be more than enough.

Two years is fine by me. I like to see what's happening, but really if it's costing a lot of money, two years might be better. Suppose ti costs $3 million, which could easily be the case, you could easily use that money for something else.
