The article goes on to suggest Kamala is already selected behind the scenes and it's not because they think she can necessarily win the Presidency, that would only be a bonus, but she can protect the down ballot races where it is predicted the Democrats will win a majority in the House of Representatives with her as the candidate and not Biden, which is actually the key to stopping Trump from going full autocrat as then for at least the first two years the Democrats will have most authority on any lawmaking.

There's published polling that she actually would get more votes than Biden, though only one percent, but the important part to Democrats is where that one percent is geographically.
They don't need more votes in California, but if she can be the 1% difference that lets them hold a State like Georgia, and maybe even flip North Carolina, and then also get those voters to pick Democrat for the House of Reps then she's the gold ticket.
 
The issue for Dems is their only alternative to Biden is Harris. If they pass her over then the Dems are in for an internal civil war within the party of the old guard vs the AOC BIPOC woke corner of the party. So either they stick with Biden and go down with this captain or pivot quickly and go ALL IN on Harris.

I agree, it must be Harris. Maybe she’ll do fine. As a former DA, Harris would destroy Trump in a debate.

His own State is a dysfunctional dump of squatters, encampments and junkies where he can't get even simple infrastructure improvements funded. But either way, you can’t replace Harris with another white guy without destroying your chances with black voters.

I do think the Bidens will fight this to the end, there is too much on the line for Dr. Lady Macbeth and the wastrel son.

Eventually the Dems’ ‘politely hinting’ phase will end, and the ‘subversive forcing’ phase will begin (as indicated by the firing shots by Clooney).
 
One gaffe is excuseable however several day after day is not.

At this point it's reasonable to assume Biden is losing his marbles. With one of the largest militaries and nuclear arsenals at his disposal, he can't be having lapses.

The Democratic Party brass are doing what any party does and supports their leader. Unfortunately, they are delusional.

Americans and the world can see that Joe Biden is having mental lapses and no amount of public support by high level democrats will prevent that.

They need a new candidate. Joe Biden needs to go if they have any hope of winning.

Do I think Kamila Harris has any chance of winning? Likely not but she's still a better candidate than Biden at this point.

They believe that no one can replace them, and actively block those from the next generation that may; thus sabotaging the very values and norms that they wish to promote and protect for future generations. Like Obi-wan, she is their only hope. The Democratic party will collapse if the only BIPOC woman is replaced by the DNC by yet another white man or even another white woman. Unfortunately Biden has sabotaged Harris throughout his first term, giving her glass cliff assignments like the border.

Agreed. My guess, and knowing plenty of grudge-prone Irishmen, is that Biden has never forgiven Harris for suggesting he supported segregationists in the 2019 debate. Biden has been steaming that hot turd in the back of his mind for five years now. Otherwise Biden could have announced in mid-2023 that he does not plan to run in 2024, and would thus begin grooming Harris to take his place. Instead, Biden is thinking, that b#tch will have to take this resolute desk from my cold dead hands, country be damned.
