A thread for people to share thoughts on the buildings in the poll, and how people ranked their choices etc etc.

The poll is below:

I'll share my own thoughts below in a separate post.

The 20-29 category was the toughest for me. As you may have seen all these thread bumps. :)
I haven’t followed any of these buildings, except just one for some strange unknown reason.
Trying to get every one out to vote I guess or maybe we can delete this category?

That category is the hardest, by far. I think I'm leaning Blue Diamond..........but its not getting any raves from me......... But its a world above Riverside.....

Well this thread hasn't set the world on fire, LOL........ but I'm going to offer up my list from the UT poll anyway.

In 6-7s:

2 Queen West in a runway

In 8-9s:

Augusta Block - Hamilton

In 10-13s:

T3 Bayside

In 14-19s:

123 Portland

In 20s-29s:

Blue Diamond

In 30-39s:

Garden District

In 40-49s:

55 Mercer (honourable mention to Prime)

In 50s+

Toronto House

The poll really should be a worst building of the year ranking--there are just so many (dis)honourable candidates from this year to choose from. For the 20 - 29 story category, it's a real toss-up between the dog's breakfast of Upper West Village vs the frightfully Frankensteinian Time & Space. I guess if someone was holding a gun to my head I'd have to go with T&S, but only because it's in a more visible, higher-profile part of town.

Front Page Story up on the winners:

In the first 3, UT voters clearly had it right, voting for my choices, LOL

In the 14-19s category, voters varied from my choice of 123 Portland, but only slightly, with Westline edging it out with ~25% of the vote to ~22%

Somehow Galleria won the 20s-29s category.........I frankly wasn't enamoured with any of the choices...........but wonder why some voters picked what they did.........

The McMaster Graduate Residence took the 30-39s category .... I'm ok w/that, I get it.

I'm really not sure how 160 Front beats out 55 Mercer in the 40s - 49s category. Just sayin.....

Voters in the 50s+ category got back on track supporting Toronto House (as I did)

160 Front has a few issues, notably in terms of how it meets the street. But the unique profile of the tower makes it a captivating landmark. The expressiveness seen in its profile puts it in a different realm from any other building in the poll (regardless of height).

I get what you're saying, but I suppose I always prioritize how something meets the street; the streetwall/podum, at-grade levels.

The rest is not unimportant, but less so, as one doesn't generally see the upper tower, nearly as much and isn't impacted by it in the same way.
