Yes. Ford had said that his MPPs were too busy to help Pollievre, but Caroline was on hand to introduce him at a rally last week and then Ford said she had his blessing 🙄. Peter Mansbridge and Chantal Herbert were discussing potential Mulroney aspirations on Mansbridge’s latest podcast episode

orange isn’t such a positive colour these days

Indeed.

I fully expect Jagmeet to be gone shortly after the election. There is a mandatory leadership review at every convention and you can bet your ass they will be reviewing his leadership if they get Audrey McLaughlin numbers after years in opposition.

Unfortunately, there are no ideal candidates for the NDP. Being a somewhat fringe party they don't bring in people like Mark Carney, Marc Garneau, etc. The Candidates I would like to have seen run like Charlie Angus are getting out of politics.

Truthfully, the NDP needs to be humbled. They need political obliteration to force them to resolve an existential crisis. They need to determine what they are and where they want to go before they can succeed again in the federal sphere.

As an NDP supporter, I am voting Liberal (Bill Blair) this year. I have lost confidence in Jagmeet and the current iteration of the NDP is not what I grew up supporting.

...indeed, it's from the AM's near obliteration of the NDP that they got Jack who raised it back up from the ashes. That needs to happen again, before they're ever taken seriously. And put that mildly.

I was referring to the choice of orange in branding -- orange is associated with Trump these days. For a while, the provincial NDP was sending out "orange crush" emails, and I just thought it was terribly tone-deaf given the many orange-related nicknames.

And yes, it sucks when your branding gets impacted like that.

The Conservative Party of Canada was a result of the merger of the Progressive Conservatives of Canada and the Reform Party of Canada/Canadian Alliance.

The Liberal Party of Canada and the New Democratic Party of Canada should consider a merger.

I have long been advocating for this however it is a non-starter.

The LPC is the refined and distinguished cousin of the grassroots activist NDP. It is like inviting your hillbilly cousins to a formal gala.

Now that's not to say they would not work out well together, it is just they have different ideologies and policies that clash.

Do we really want to become a two party state?

I'm with @Towered .....what we need is electoral reform not to limit ourselves an oligopoly of power.

Liberals are a softer version of Conservatives. They are only comparable to the NDP in that they are both not the CPC. The Liberals would never have done dental care or pharmacare without the NDP forcing it on them.
The Liberals will never do what needs to be done to wrench the country out of the hands of runaway capitalism.

To be fair, neither would the NDP for awhile now. To really do that I think there has to be a national consensus that runaway capitalism is a bad thing.
