The husband & wife team behind Lolita's Lust and Tomi-Kro are the new restauranteurs in the strip mall. The Star was not impressed with their new venture. I like the dry wit behind the article -- the fact that they've opened 21 restaurants in 30 years yet have signed a 20-year lease...

Kates's review last Saturday was quite positive, though she located the restaurant at Gerrard and Coxwell.

Shades of Leslieville Lofts, perhaps, since the rest of Carlaw, heading north from this site, consists of typical single family houses.

I work in a studio south of the tracks, the entire strip south of there is all condos and lofts under construction that are taller than 6 storeys. I don't think I want anything to built at this corner, it would slowly transform the chinatown strip, its seediness is charming and keeps the rent in the area affordable.

For years, I've assumed that the owners of all those slummy little rented-out houses along Gerrard, between Broadview and Carlaw, are waiting until they can sell to developers for a handy profit.

It has some nice aspects but I'm not sure what's going on on the corner of the 11th floor. I'd want to see some floorplans and more detailed renderings to form a real opinion.
