Just sharing a few shots of Detroit that I had on this computer circa 2004 (don't worry, Detroit still looks the same - it never changes). I was at a festival and not really focusing on the buildings, but a few pictures still might interest some here.

Windsor as seen from Detroit - the 'Underground Railroad' monument is in the foreground.

'Ren Cen' at right... it used to be Ford headquarters; now it is the headquarters for GM.

Detroit's 'Hart Plaza'... Casino Windsor in the background.

Both of these shots are a bit crooked. I had to slide my hand and camera out of a three or four inch opening from a hotel window and snap the pictures with my thumb - took me about twenty tries to get these two relatively straight shots. My favorite Detroit building is in the back left (Penobscot Building)... the dark brick one is the Guardian Building.

I never made it to DEMF, but always wanted to. My brother used to go every year. BTW, there's a great chapter about DEMF in the following book...

Is the Book-Cadillac renovation completed yet? I haven't read much Detroit development news lately to be honest.

Detroit has a gorgeous collection of highrises. Actually, one of my favourite skylines anywhere.

Nice pics. Detroit is one of the top cities I'd like to visit. It looks like a pretty fascinating place. It's too bad they tore down the Motown Building. I was hoping to get inside.

They tore down an office building that once held Motown's offices. The actual building with the recording studio is still up and is now the Motown Museum.

Yeah that's the one I'm referring to. Apparently when they left they pretty much just abandoned it - there was still a lot of interesting stuff left there, even when it was demolished.

It's sad so much history was eliminated for a parking lot.
