Amazing pics... the Burlington waterfront is quite a treasure! Looks even better in that warm late day light! Love the Hamilton pano too...

Wonderfully warm, flar. I think you've captured the heart, especially in the people shots.

Much of Burlington is pretty generic suburbia, but they've done a nice job with the waterfront. I'd say it's a success. Village Square, not so much.

Village Square is strange. Maybe it should be called "The Village", after The Prisoner...

Village Square

I lived in Burlington from '54 to '68 (when I went to U of T) and then again from '71 to '82 when I was co-owner of A Different Drummer Books, which is three blocks up from the lake on Locust St--and is still in business (we sold it in '83).

Village Square which was developed in the late 70's was an attempt to "Yorkville" Burlington with chic shoppes and restaurants. It was on Elizabeth street and incorporated some of the older residences.

I went to Burlington Central High

And here's a image of Brant St, the main street which runs north from the lake. There are two hotels in the image, the Sherwood Hotel and the one at the bottom, the old Coronation. Both have been transformed into resto-publs

This is the Sherwood Hotel today.

Knox Presbyterian Church

Built in the late 1800's, I believe (1872) but I may off by a few years. Attended Sunday school there. Just up the street is the United Church and down the street is Burlington's Disneyland aka Village Square

I agree, but just like Mississauga and Oakville next door, there's some real treasures to be found south of the QEW. North of the highway is just dreadful. You'll also find a noticeable population difference between the two areas, one dominated by wasps and the other... not so much.

Burlington: Across the Bay from Hamilton...nice!

Flar: I now wonder how these pics slipped by me-the only thing I would like to have seen added is the GO Rail line and station area. Burlington looks like another interesting place to me...LI MIKE

Next time you're heading to Niagara get off at Brant street and drive south to Lakeshore. Park and check out the waterfront and the tiny downtown area. Not much to see really but it is nice for us locals. The pier should be finished soon and the performing arts centre designed by Diamond is currently under construction. Forms are up. Anyhow, after you've seen enough you can then drive east along Lakeshore where you can head back onto the highway at North Shore Blvd to cross the Skyway and continue on your way.
