In random order, these the pics of my 3-day trip to Antwerp earlier this month. Antwerp has 466.000 inhabitants (in the city proper). It is Belgium's second city. It is also the second largest harbourcity in Europe, after Rotterdam.

I've always been intrigued by the massive rail station reconstruction in Antwerp. I passed through the city a year ago, but we didn't go to Central station since the new tunnel wasn't yet built. What a beautiful building.

There didn't seem to be a lot of construction activity at the station. Apart from the platforms that are situated just a bit above streetlevel, there was a new set of platforms situated underground:

It somewhat reminded me of the new railway station in Berlin, though this one was far less impressive.

Thanks for the pics... they bring back great memories... I remember being at a few of the spots in your photos about 6 years ago.

Belgium, by far, is my most favourite European country. I fell in love with everyone I met and every place I went... so I had to go back a second time.

The architecture and public squares in Antwerp, Brugge and Ghent were far more impressive to me than anything I saw later in Paris.

^I know what you mean about Belgium, it is hard not to like it. I used to pass through it for years, on my way to France... until I visited it properly last June. I liked it so much that I went back there in less than two months since my last visit.
