I used to go to Dempsey Brothers all the time.

What type of store was it in its final years?
Was it operating until the day it was moved in the mid 90's?

I can remember the old Dempsey Brothers hardware store like it was yesterday. As late as the early 70s, the intersection looked not too different from the way it looks in this photo. I do not agree that the building was "Georgian". I would describe it as Victorian because of the contrasting colour brick quoins on the corners. Dempsey Brothers was a classic old hardware store.

I think its still there if you are referring to the Rona-Lansing at Willowdale.

Thanks Pipolchap, I'll have to go check out Rona's update to the old Lansing Buildall store. A walk down memory lane for me. Grew up in North York, but left in '81. As for that other building supply place at Finch and Willowdale, yes, I know it. Great place to buy bulk firewood in the city.
