If you look at the bridge in 1916, single lanes in each direction.

and a more current photo in 2012, double lanes in each direction.

You'll see that they WIDENED the bridge after shifting it to be more straight with Bathurst Street.

So they could do it again. Widening the bridge to put in a streetcar right-of-way, and still keep double traffic lanes in each direction.
