Estrada, Tulo, Liriano and maybe Happ should be traded for prospects and draft picks to rebuild.

Donaldson should be kept IMO but he seriously needs to step it up big time.

Justin Smoak was just announced as a starter at the All-Star game!

It's excellent that Smoak is an All-Star.

He might be kept or traded. Who knows?

Unlike most professional sports, draft picks can't be traded directly in baseball. However, baseball allows for trades involving players-to-be-named-later, as well as straight-up cash.

I have to say that the sweep at the hands of the Red Sox was "impossible to forget" bad. To be fair, however, the bar was set really high as it included the Canada 150 game.

19-1 shellacking by the Astros and another blowout loss...Pretty awful way to enter the All-star break. Shame that despite recent struggles of teams like the Yankees and Orioles, the Jays have been unable to make up much ground to at least get out of last place in the AL East.

The Jays would have to win about 2/3s of their remaining games against some of the best teams in baseball in order to make the playoffs.

They're done - a rebuild is what's needed.

@syn, your posts in this thread over the course of the 2017 season have been evident of a lack of confidence in the team. Is there any reason why they are like that?

The reason I have little confidence in this team is because they're clearly bad.

They're at the bottom of almost every offensive category. With the oldest lineup in MLB, it's unlikely to improve next year.

Combine that with a lack up depth at the upper levels of the farm system and it's time to rebuild.

José Bautista would be excellent for a team seeking a right fielder and/or a designated hitter and thus would be more valuable to an AL team than to an NL team. He can net a few prospects.

Estrada and Liriano would be very likely to be traded for prospects as well.

The Jays need prospects the most. Better to trade wins this year (since there's a low chance of making the playoffs anyways) for wins in future seasons.

Donaldson and Happ are probably the only two players who will garner elite level prospects.

Stroman would fall in that category too, but they're likely not in a rush to move him.

This is getting ugly...

I don't get what that means.

Re: Estrada and Liriano:

True but based on how they have been performing, I doubt any team would want them.

Re: Bautista:

For some reason the teams at the top of my head as trade destinations are:

AL: Yankees
NL: Dodgers

They're at the bottom of almost every offensive category.
It could be because of this:
It's pretty clear that after Cleveland shut our hitters down with lots of key breaking balls in the ALCS, every other pitching staff in the league has caught on.
They also learned how to hit against us

Anyways, what a waste  of the Jays on July 11, 2017 despite the need to use a chunk of the bench because of the amount of votes that (we) gave.

Edwing's new team swept the Jays.

Expect fan favourites (excluding young pitchers) to be traded for prospects, all for the better.
