BT also needs to look into restoring the 501A Zum Queen service to York University via 407. Before it was suspended, it was a much faster route to get to the subway than the Highway 7 branch to VMC.

Probably not until York U resumes on campus learning, which the earliest would be September, at this time.

They should at least look into bringing it back and going to the 407 station to improve better connectivity for the entire region. While Steeles has bramalea go for the 407 buses, Queen/7 depends on transfers to other corridors like bramalea rd or jane st just to get access to these go buses, but that could change if the 501A comes back and serves 1 of like the 50 empty bays at the terminal.

^ BT’s “new year” is basically September. All the big significant changes like new lines/branches, Zum extensions, return of other lines. and big timetable changes come from that month. I wish they would be more like their other peers however (TTC, Miway and GO in particular), because not having live, drastic changes in the service means that the transit could get outdated by a couple of months, and not be reliable.

One thing that the other agencies i mentioned above, and BT doesn’t have is night service (and a form of grade separated RT but at least they’re getting to it now). Imagine going from Hamilton to BCC, Port Credit to Castlemore or Creditview to Scarborough and having that service 24/7. Even the GO bus route 40 doesn’t serve Brampton directly which means there is for now, absolutely no service in the city in the middle of the night which needs to change and hopefully we get that in September this year.

Brampton Transit is not getting night service any time soon, they assessed the option as costing approximately $2 million with a fare box recovery of 10%. If we reverse engineer that, we get around 16k service hours for night service.

This affects public transit service west of Chinguacousy Road on Steeles Avenue, with no service at all between Lisgar Station and Financial Drive. There are two big Amazon fulfillment centres along this corridor in Brampton, at Winston Churchill Blvd and at Heritage Rd.

Apparently, there's an outbreak at the Amazon YYZ3 warehouse at Steeles and Winston Churchill Blvd.

The warehouse will keep running while the buses won't serve it for at least seven days. How will workers who normally take transit get to work? Amazon isn't going to give anyone paid time if they can help it, after all.

How does no transit, but the warehouses still in operation make sense? Is everyone now forced to take rideshare or carpool or even bike/walk from steeles and chinguacousy if they have to, which in the former options, is even worse and would probably increase the chances of rideshare drivers getting sick. There’s also a small percentage but still mattered workers from Milton, Meadowvale, Canon HQ and Meadowvale Business Park that probably relies on the steeles corridor to get around. I get that there was an outbreak, but the execution of this plan should’ve been handled more better.

Heard on the news Amazon has contracted with Coach Canada to provide transportation.

Somewhat related to Brampton Transit, City staff have written a report recommending the removal of minimum parking requirements in certain portions of Brampton. The report is on the agenda for Wednesday's Council meeting.

Staff Report re: City-initiated Zoning By-law Amendment to the Parking Requirements in the Downtown, Central Area and Hurontario-Main Corridor
