If I recall, it's on undevelopable old landfill areas. From their website (Barlow Solar) it's a 27MW facility, approx. ~7,000 homes worth of power.I had no idea we had solar farms that large in the city.
Built on phosphogypsum stacks that originated as byproduct of fertilizer production. The sites were reclaimed in 2005-2006 to dewater, compact the material and cap with clay. Phosphogypsum can't be built on as it physically unstable and contains trace amounts of radium.
