You are correct, columns were severely under engineered. Now that they know, they know what needs to be done. However, nobody can enter the structure as it is unsafe. Now the question is how to you do the work required without putting people inside?
 
That is shocking if true, I'd never expect a structural engineer to make a mistake on something as simple as column slenderness.

Should be fine with the amount of shoring in place.

You’d probably have to install a rebar frame around them too. Honestly might just have to use temporary supports and tear them out, build them from scratch.

A few contractors now on site installing Sea Cannisters. Looks like they will begin shoring the faulty columns. Word has it end of March 2023 before we see full construction commencing.
 
Not much progress, but there were workers at site.
